🖤 HOW IS CHEWY STILL WAITING? 🖤

Sometimes the dogs who need us most get overlooked.

Not because they aren't wonderful.

Not because they aren't loving.

But because their perfect family simply hasn't found them yet.

Meet Chewy.

At just 2 years old, this handsome Cocker Spaniel mix is everything you'd expect from a young dog who loves life. He adores toys, adventures, backyard playtime, hikes, walks, and wrestling with canine friends. If you're looking for a sidekick to join you on life's adventures, Chewy is ready to pack his bags.

And when the fun is over?

He's just as happy curled up beside you for snuggles and affection.

🖤 House trained
🖤 Crate trained
🖤 Knows basic commands
🖤 Good recall
🖤 Loves other dogs his size and energy level
🖤 Affectionate and eager to please

Chewy has come a long way in foster care.

Like many dogs who didn't have the easiest start, he struggles with anxiety around unfamiliar situations and can be fearful of some men he doesn't know. Because of this, Chewy needs a patient adopter willing to continue helping him build confidence and trust.

The amazing thing is that once he feels safe, his true personality shines.

His foster family describes him as a sweetheart.

He spends his days snoozing near his foster mom while she works, following her around the house, playing with his dog friends, and soaking up attention whenever he can get it.

Chewy isn't looking for perfection.

He's looking for understanding.

His ideal home will have:

🏡 A secure fenced yard
🐾 Another playful dog with a similar energy level
❤️ Active adults committed to helping him thrive
👦 Children 16 and older

After waiting so long, Chewy deserves more than another temporary stop.

He deserves his person.

The one who sees past the label and recognizes the incredible dog underneath.

The one who says, "You're home now."

Could that be you?

💕 TWO HEARTS. ONE HOME NEEDED. 💕

Some dogs find comfort in a favorite toy.

Tamborine and Trombone found comfort in each other.

Found as strays and now safe in foster care, this bonded pair has already weathered uncertainty together. Through every change, they've remained side by side. Now they need a foster or forever family willing to keep them together and give them the stability, love, and security they've been searching for.

🐾 Tamborine (5 years old) is a sweet, gentle girl who can be a little shy at first. Once she trusts you, she's all about snuggles before retreating to her favorite cozy spot for a nap.

🐾 Trombone (8 years old) has the kindest eyes and the happiest spirit. His big floppy ears and cheerful personality make him impossible not to love. He greets life with optimism and a tail wag, no matter what comes his way.

And here's something remarkable...

🤫 Their foster mom has never even heard them bark.

Trombone offers the softest little howl when he's excited, while Tamborine makes an adorable trill when she's happily rolling in the grass. They're quiet, calm companions who simply enjoy being near the people they love.

🏡 They have worked hard in foster care and are now housetrained. Trombone does still mark indoors and will likely need belly bands long-term.

💊 Both have manageable medical needs:

❤️ Trombone has a heart condition that requires medication twice daily. Thankfully, he's never met a snack he didn't like and happily takes his pills tucked into a little peanut butter or canned food.

👁️ Tamborine requires eye drops twice daily and accepts them like a champ. She is spayed and recently had dental work and cherry eye repair surgery.

The truth is, Tamborine and Trombone aren't looking for perfection.

They aren't asking for a big house, a fancy yard, or endless adventures.

They're simply hoping for someone who will look at two dogs who have already lost so much and decide they deserve to stay together.

Someone who will see past a few medications and recognize the extraordinary love these two share.

Someone who will give them the second chance they've been waiting for.

Could that someone be you?

💔 Meet Flirt: A Tiny Puppy with a Big Fight Ahead 💔

At just 3 months old and only 8 pounds, Flirt should be worrying about puppy things.

Chasing toys.
Playing with friends.
Learning how to be a dog.

Instead, this precious little girl is fighting for her life. 🐾

Flirt recently arrived from a breeder release facility and quickly stole the hearts of everyone she met. She is sweet, playful, curious, and everything a puppy should be.

But hidden inside her tiny chest is a serious congenital heart defect called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA).

Without treatment, PDA can lead to congestive heart failure.

Right now, Flirt doesn't know any of that.

She only knows that she loves attention, enjoys being cuddled, and wants to explore the world around her. 🥺💕

As she waits in our Recovery Room, our team is working closely with specialists to determine the best surgical path forward and give her the future she deserves.

Please help us welcome little Flirt to Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue and follow her journey.

Because this little girl has already captured our hearts. 💙

🚨 Foster Needed for Dexter 🚨
💔 This sweet boy has already lost the home he loved once. We desperately want to keep him from losing stability all over again.

Meet Dexter — a handsome, playful little guy with a huge heart and so much love to give. 🐶💛

Dexter absolutely adores being with his people. Whether he’s chasing after his favorite ball, hanging out with the family, or simply staying close by your side, he’s happiest when he feels included and loved.

✨ About Dexter:
🐾 Good with kids
🐾 Does well with dogs his size or smaller (Dexter is about 15–20 lbs)
🐾 Has been around cats
🐾 Loves toys, playtime, and companionship
🐾 Sweet, affectionate, and eager to bond

Dexter’s life changed when his owner’s health began failing, forcing him to leave behind the only home he had known. Right now, he is safe in a temporary foster home in Utah — but time is running short, and he urgently needs a new foster placement. 🙏

Like many dogs experiencing stress and transition, Dexter does mark indoors and currently wears a belly band. But beyond that? He’s simply a loving dog searching for stability, patience, and kindness.

He doesn’t need perfection.
He doesn’t need a mansion.
He just needs someone willing to open their heart and give him a safe place to land. 🥺

Every additional move, every new transition, adds more confusion and stress for dogs like Dexter. A foster home could truly change the course of his life.

📩 If you can foster Dexter — even temporarily — please reach out ASAP. https://rockymountaincockerrescue.org/foster-app/

Please share to help us find this deserving little boy the soft landing he so desperately needs. 💙🐾

🐶 Foster Request: Sweet Senior Dog Looking for a Calm, Loving Home 🏡
Sunny, also known as Sunshine, is a 10-year-old dog with a gentle, timid, and cuddly personality. She is looking for a patient foster home where she can feel safe, loved, and supported. ☀️🐾

💛 About Sunny

Sunny was originally found as a stray and has been with her current family for 7 years. Now that her family has kiddos, she is not getting the attention and one-on-one time she needs.

Sunny can be timid at first, but she is friendly, affectionate, and loves to snuggle.

🦴 Care Needs

Sunny is crate trained, but she is not fully potty trained and currently has occasional p*e and p**p accidents in the home. She will do best with someone patient, understanding, and comfortable using p*e pads as part of her routine.

🐕 Behavior and Compatibility

Sunny does well with big dogs, but she does not like small animals. She also has some separation anxiety, so she would be happiest with someone who is home often and can give her plenty of reassurance, love, and snuggles.

🏡 Sunny’s Ideal Foster Home

🌿 A quiet, calm home with someone who can take her on gentle walks

🩷 A patient foster who understands accidents may happen and is comfortable using p*e pads

⏰ Someone who is home often, since Sunny does not like being left alone for long periods

🐕 A home with another larger dog could be a good fit, as long as Sunny still gets plenty of attention and affection

Please apply here: https://rockymountaincockerrescue.org/foster-app/ 🐶💛 She deserves to have the next chapter of her life be the best chapter of her life! ✨🏡

Please help us celebrate SIX incredible dogs who officially found their forever homes today!

🏡 Jackson was adopted by his foster dad, Brian!
🏡 Peyton was adopted by her fosters, Stephanie and John!
🏡 Whitley was adopted by her foster mom, Holly!
🏡 Emma was adopted by her foster mom, Kim!
🏡 Zain was adopted by his foster mom, Emily!
🏡 Susie was adopted by Sandi and Rod!

So many of these stories began with uncertainty, fear, medical needs, or heartbreak… and today they ended with love, safety, and forever families. 🥹

There is something especially magical about foster families realizing they cannot imagine life without the dog they were meant to “temporarily” help. Foster failures are some of our favorite happy endings. ❤️

To every adopter — thank you for saying yes.
Thank you for opening your homes.
Thank you for choosing rescue.
And thank you for giving these deserving dogs the happily ever after they have waited for. 🐶✨

Tonight, six rescue dogs are sleeping exactly where they belong. 💙

This is Flirt M 26062. Flirt was recently released to RMCR by the Cherokee Breeder we have worked with since last year. This little heart throb was born on Valentines Day. Her name is quite fitting as she is such an adorable little 3 month old pup.

Flirt was released to RMCR because she has a congenital heart defect known as a Patent Ductus Arteriosus or, PDA. In simple terms, a PDA is a connection between the aorta and the pulmonary artery. This connection (ductus) is normal during fetal development as the fetus receives all of its oxygen through the placenta. When the puppy takes its first breath, the ductus is stimulated to close so the puppy’s lungs can begin to oxygenate the blood.

This defect causes the left side of Flirt’s heart to work harder. Without intervention, Flirt will develop heart failure. Time is a bit critical for the intervention as the longer she experiences this, the greater the chance of irreversible heart damage. We are fortunate that there are a couple of places in Colorado that can perform the surgery. All of us at RMCR want Flirt to live a full life and we are prepared to get her the treatment she needs.

There are two methods by which a PDA can be treated. The first is traditional open heart surgery where Flirt’s chest will be opened to access her heart and close the ductus. Recovery from this surgery is going to be lengthy. The second method employs the use of catheters to implant a plug in the ductus. This is the preferred route as the recovery is much quicker. We will not know which procedure is available to Flirt until she is seen by a cardiac surgeon.

The cost of this surgery is predicted to be upwards of $10,000 and we will need help with funding her surgery. There are multiple ways to donate.

💔 Bryant’s World Has Gone Dark… But His Story Isn’t Over 💔

Bryant remains in our Recovery Room as he continues fighting through overwhelming medical challenges after arriving from a large breeding facility on May 2. 🐾

Yesterday, Bryant was evaluated by veterinary ophthalmologist Dr. Emily Conway at Mountain Star Veterinary Specialists, and the news was heartbreaking:

Bryant is functionally blind.

His left eye is completely blind, with the lens fully dislocated and likely retinal detachment. His right eye is also blind, with only minimal light perception remaining. Both eyes are affected by cataracts, retinal degeneration, and severe secondary changes.

The one small blessing?
Right now, his eyes are still comfortable. 💙

Our focus now is preserving that comfort and preventing the painful development of glaucoma so Bryant can continue healing without suffering.

But Bryant’s journey has been so much bigger than vision loss alone.

When he first arrived, this sweet soul was completely shut down. He barely moved. He would not eat or drink. He seemed emotionally defeated, exhausted, and lost in a world he could no longer see. 💔

And yet…

Just two days into foster care, Bryant began showing us something extraordinary.

He slowly started moving around.
He began eating — especially when lovingly hand-fed.
He started responding to kindness, softness, and safety.

His foster lovingly calls him a “miracle dog.” 🥺

Despite everything Bryant has endured, his spirit is still there. Quiet. Fragile. But still fighting.

As if blindness and severe eye disease were not enough, Bryant also developed a serious infection after his neuter surgery, requiring a second emergency surgery to remove his sc***um.

This little dog has suffered more than most ever should.

And still… he keeps trying.

Bryant will continue receiving medications and specialized care while we closely monitor him for any signs of pain, including redness, squinting, bulging eyes, or head sensitivity. While his vision cannot be restored, our hope is to give Bryant something just as important:

Comfort.
Safety.
Love.
And finally, peace.

Dogs like Bryant are why rescue matters. Because even when the world has failed them, they still deserve tenderness, medical care, and the chance to feel safe for the very first time. 🐾

Please keep Bryant in your thoughts as he continues this long road toward healing. And if you would like to help support his ongoing medical care, donations are deeply appreciated. Every single contribution helps us continue saying “yes” to dogs who need us most. 🙏💙

✨ Meet Reggie — Your Future Velcro Dog ✨

Reggie is officially ready to find the forever home he has been waiting for… and trust us, this handsome redhead is going to steal somebody’s whole heart. ❤️🐾

At 9 years old, Reggie still has plenty of pep in his step and absolutely does NOT act his age. He’s healthy, active, playful, and full of personality — the perfect mix of cuddle buddy and backyard adventurer.

His favorite thing in the world?
His people.

Reggie is the kind of dog who wants to be your little shadow. If you move, he moves. If you sit, he’s nearby. If you’re looking for a deeply loyal companion who simply wants to love and be loved, Reggie is your guy. 🥹

He would thrive in a home where someone is around much of the time because being close to his humans is what makes him happiest.

And let’s talk about those zoomies… ⚡😂
Give this boy a moderately sized fenced yard and prepare yourself for pure joy. Reggie LOVES to run, play, explore, and show off his goofy side.

A few more things to adore about him:

🎾 Obsessed with toys
🔊 Especially squeaky toys
💀 Unfortunately, squeaky toys have very short life expectancies around Reggie

🚗 Loves car rides
🐕 Enjoys walks
👋 Loves meeting people
💋 Gets a little TOO excited sometimes and may jump up to say hello
🐶 Does well meeting other dogs on walks

He’s crate tolerant for short errands but would much rather sleep close to his people. He also uses a doggie door like a pro, though he’s still polishing his “excuse me, I need outside” communication skills without one. 😉

Reggie isn’t looking for perfection.
He’s looking for connection. For companionship. For his person.

And whoever adopts this sweet, affectionate, goofy boy is going to gain a best friend who loves with his entire heart. 💙

🏡 Reggie’s Ideal Home:
✔️ Moderately sized fenced yard
✔️ Someone home often
✔️ Active but loving environment
✔️ Humans willing to continue working on manners and leash skills
✔️ Plenty of squeaky toy replacements 😂
https://rockymountaincockerrescue.org/dog/reggie-2/

Reggie is SO ready for his happily ever after. Could it be with you? 🐾
