We are SO lucky to have local artist, Lynsey Dellinger, continuing to create gorgeous art reflective of her original "PALMER - The Little Engine That Could" drawings that she donated to the Friends of the Palmer Public Library, Inc. to help celebrate and commemorate the new Palmer library we are all eagerly awaiting!

Her latest work are these series of bookmarks that our friends at Alopex Interaction Design are kindly digitizing for us so that we can get them printed and offered for sale to our community!

Thank you, Lynsey, pictured here with her adorable son who loves trains and Palmer's beloved No.5 engine! 📚🚂❤️

Today, April 19, kicks off National Library Week, an annual celebration that highlights and celebrates the valuable role libraries and library professionals play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. What a better way to commence the celebration than to post some newly acquired photos from our St. Patrick's Day celebration of Palmer - The Little Engine That Could build a new library! Oh, the joy!

Big shout out to Julia Taylor, owner of the new Palmer business: a blissful mascot squad, for supporting our recent St.Patrick's Day celebration on March 15! Bluey - member of the blissful mascot squad - showed to walk alongside our community parade goers, stopping also to give high fives and hugs along the way! We love how he's showing off one of our swag bags from that day, made by another supporter, Northern Renegade Photography.

Julia has other characters in addition to Bluey. Check out her page and consider reaching out to her for your next function. Have to love the business' stated purpose: "to bring smiles, joy and unforgettable fun memories to your event!" It sure did to ours! Thank you, Julia! Thank you, Bluey!

👏 Our community really came together during our PALMER - The Little Engine That Could campaign kick-off fundraiser, 2/14 ♥️ through 3/17 ☘️!

🎉 Through sponsorships, Palmer's Dash for the Gold race proceeds, and A LOT of small bills and coins that were donated through our donation boxes at Palmer businesses, and donated at our St. Patrick's Day themed event, we raised...🥁...$16,287.86!

🎉These donations will be used to help outfit the interior of our community's new library!!

We have SO many to thank, SO much gratitude for all of the joy and positivity expressed at yesterday's St.Patrick's Day celebration for the new library which we look forward to rolling out over the next couple of weeks. BUT, for today, many have inquired about who baked the delicious 20 loaves of Irish soda bread (!) from which we were able to share free slices. The wonderful, generous baker is Jamie Popham and her business is Bradley Lake Bakery. Those of you who frequent the Matanuska Community Farmers Market know her bread, especially her chocolate rolls, always sell out quickly. You can find her on Instagram at: or at www.hotplate.com/bradleylakebakery

Thank you, Jamie! It was the perfect amount and so appreciated!

☘️102 racers are signed up for tomorrow's "Dash for the Gold" races! Wow!!

☘️Thank you, community, and good luck and have fun to all of the racers!

☘️Remember, the very short, likely cacophonous, community parade that everyone who wants to celebrate our new library can join in starts in front of the police station and ends at the Depot happens immediately before the races. It is the official kickoff for the races, so it's totally OK for racers to join the parade!

☘️Don't forget to bring your noise makers and some change of any amount to toss in the pot of gold to go toward outfitting the inside of the new library! ♥️
