As I sit here at 6 AM preparing for our first full day of Ministry in Kenya; I’m separating the bookmarks we have for the women into the different languages for the different locations.

 this was an idea that Rhonda came up with a few years ago in order to help the women of Kenya know how much God and we care for them.

I look at these different bookmarks, the top one is Mai, the next one is Swahili with the English translation, the one on the lower left is Mwisukha can the one on the lower right is the Kikuyu language.

They all look so different and yet they all say the same thing. Wow, languages differ greatly and how they look and sound, the spirit of love in each of them is the same

 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. -Galatians 5:22-23

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from Hearts Afire! 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate the birth of a nation built on the God-given ideals of liberty and the hope that people should be free to worship, speak, and pursue the life God has given them. We are deeply grateful for the countless men and women who have sacrificed to preserve those freedoms over the past 250 years.

Yet as precious as political freedom is, there is an even greater freedom available to every person.

More than 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ stretched out His hands on a cross to set us free from the bo***ge of sin, guilt, fear, and death. No government can grant that freedom, and no earthly power can take it away. It is a gift of God's grace through faith in Christ.

As we celebrate America's birthday, may we also remember the One who offers true and eternal freedom.

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
— John 8:36

From all of us at Hearts Afire, we pray you have a safe, joyful, and blessed Independence Day. May God continue to bless America, and may hearts everywhere find the lasting freedom that is found only in Jesus Christ. ❤️🇺🇸

Surround yourself with people who are encouragers and supporters. You will go a lot further together than you will if you surround yourself with those who try and drag you down to where they are.

**Please share this post with family, friends, and your church!**

We are looking for more people to join our mission team to the Dominican Republic in October! I will be leading it and we currently have 9 committed team members, but we know that more team members mean more impact. This is an amazing opportunity to share your gifts and talents to help others in need. Whether you are in the medical field or not, whether you are younger or older, you can make a difference in the lives of others. We have individuals and families who have come along on mission trips, and each person has had an essential role.

Time is of the essence since we are working with a travel agent to book round-trip flights so please message me as soon as possible if you are interested. You can also reach us by filling out the contact form on the Hearts Afire website, www.heartsafire.us.

As co-founder of this international humanitarian mission organization that was founded in 2006 and has worked in 12 countries, including the U.S., I have led this mission trip to the Dominican Republic many times. Hearts Afire also built a hospital in Kenya so there are yearly mission trips planned there too, but we would love to have a team of 10-16 for the DR so please consider joining! The experience will transform your life!

One of the things we at Hearts Afire are passionate about is helping meet needs by connecting people with others who can help. Sometimes we are the hands that serve directly, and other times we are the bridge that brings the right people together at the right moment.

Changing a life can start with simply connecting someone to the right people.

Mary, a young girl in Kenya had severe scoliosis with a dangerous curvature of her spine that was affecting her health, mobility, and future. Her family had little hope and few resources, but through God’s grace we were able to help connect her with the right hospital and medical team who could provide the surgery she desperately needed.

Having just had her surgery last week, now she is standing taller, smiling brighter, and filled with new hope…something we will never forget.

Never underestimate the power of a connection, a conversation, or a willing heart. Lives can change when people come together with compassion and purpose.

Today, love showed itself through eye exams inside a mosque. ❤️

Our Hearts Afire team in Kenya had the privilege of hosting an optical camp where men, women, and children received free eye exams, eye drops when needed, and help identifying vision problems that have gone untreated for far too long.

For many families in Kenya (and elsewhere), even basic eye care is out of reach. Through this outreach, those needing eyeglasses are also being connected with affordable options that can truly change daily life — helping children learn, adults work, and grandparents see clearly again.

We believe the love of Jesus crosses every wall, every background, and every barrier. His compassion is for everyone.

Thank you to every partner who helps make moments like this possible. You are helping bring practical care, dignity, healing, and hope to communities that deeply need it.

This is what love in action looks like.
