🎶 Celebrating Excellence in American Opera

ICYMI: We are proud to announce that VOICE Programs artist, bass-baritone Benjamin R. Sokol, has been awarded the inaugural Carlisle Floyd Centennial Prize! 👏

This $2,500 award recognizes Benjamin’s exceptional promise as a rising opera artist. Announced by President and Co-Founder Maria Zouves at our annual New York Gala, this honor celebrates both Benjamin’s talent and the enduring legacy of Carlisle Floyd—a dear friend of the Milnes VOICE Programs and a giant in American opera.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Rev. Jan Durham

The VOICExperience family joins in mourning the passing of Reverend Jan Durham, whose warmth, compassion, and faithful service touched so many lives.

Jan and her husband, Sam, were cherished members of their community, and we are deeply grateful for the kindness and commitment she shared with all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on July 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Kingswood Church in Dunwoody, Georgia. We hold Sam and their loved ones in our hearts during this time.

“I feel very honored to be a GSU-VOICE Artist... Through this opportunity I have met professionals who have been encouraging and helpful. The collaboration between people from different backgrounds and paths gives me inspiration to lean into my own journey. The amount of artistry and thoughtfulness that the other VOICE artists and faculty possess makes this a motivating experience for me to strive to dig deeper into the music and not be afraid to ‘nerd-out’ about it. Savannah’s beautiful community and event spaces are exciting to explore and perform in!”
