Before your evening walk, check the pavement. Air temperature does not tell the whole story when it comes to asphalt.

77°F air temp = 125°F asphalt
86°F air temp = 135°F asphalt
87°F air temp = 145°F asphalt

The test: Press the back of your hand to the pavement and hold it for 7 seconds. If it is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your hound's paws.
Stick to grass, early mornings, or late evenings when the sun has cooled things down. Your pets will thank you.
