Say hello to Rufus!

I Need a Minute ❤️

I want to clarify my last post because I didn’t mean for it to come across like a goodbye forever. That honestly wasn’t my intention.

I’m just exhausted. I’ve been carrying a lot for a long time, and between the rescue, my family, the financial burden, relocating, and constantly defending what we do, I’ve reached a point where I need to step back and breathe.

I still love these animals. I still believe in what we’ve built. I just need some time to reset, take care of myself and my family, and figure out what comes next.

This isn’t goodbye. I just need a minute. ❤️

I honestly never thought I would be writing this.

For months, I have begged for volunteers who would actually help—and, more importantly, people who would stick around. I have begged for help with the dogs we have brought into this rescue. I have asked, I have pleaded, I have tried to find solutions, and I have kept going.

Our supporters have been absolutely incredible. Every donation, share, message, bag of food, and helping hand has meant more than I can ever put into words. Unfortunately, as much as everyone has tried, it simply hasn't been enough to sustain what has become a one-person operation.

I am still paying expenses out of my own household pocket. I'm juggling the rescue, my family, my responsibilities, and everything that comes with keeping this going. And somewhere along the way, I stopped being able to keep up.

Then came the public attacks. Being thrown out of my home. Having to relocate. Constantly defending myself, defending the rescue, and defending why we do what we do. Constantly feeling like I have to prove that my intentions are good and that the animals matter.

There is only so much one person can take.

Maybe the people who have spent so much time tearing me down finally win. Maybe stepping away means I'm protecting myself and my family before there is nothing left of me to protect.

I don't know.

What I do know is that I gave this everything I had.

I am proud of the animals we helped. I am grateful for every person who believed in us. I am grateful for every animal that got another chance because someone cared enough to help.

But sometimes loving something isn't enough to keep carrying it alone.

So, for now, I am stepping away from the rescue.

This isn't because I stopped caring. It's because I cared so much that I kept pushing myself long after I should have stopped.

Thank you to everyone who stood beside us.

Thank you to everyone who believed in me.

And most importantly, thank you to every animal who trusted us.

It was a good run. ❤️

🐾 I NEED A SIDE HUSTLE… APPARENTLY RESCUE DOESN’T PAY IN TREATS. 😂

Okay, friends… I’m putting this out there because vet bills, food, supplies, and all the other rescue expenses do not magically pay themselves. And unfortunately, my current salary of “saving animals and hoping someone donates” isn’t exactly cutting it. 😂

So, I’m looking for side work!

I’m willing to do just about anything that is legal, reasonably safe, and doesn’t require me to suddenly develop a skill I absolutely do not possess. 😂

Cleaning? ✔️
Organizing? ✔️
Yard work? ✔️
Moving stuff? ✔️
Odd jobs? ✔️
Helping with projects? ✔️
Your garage has been a disaster since 2019? LET’S TALK. 😂

I do have to work around my two full-time unpaid positions: Mom and Rescue Director/Professional Animal Chaos Coordinator. 🐶🐱😂

So my availability is limited to certain hours during the day, but if you have something that needs to be done, send me a message! We can see if we can make it work.

The goal is simple: you get something off your to-do list, I make some extra money, and the animals benefit. 🐾❤️

Basically, hire me so I can keep rescuing animals and pretending I have my life together. 😂

If you have a job, project, chore, or mildly annoying task you’ve been putting off, I’m listening! 👀

We got him! ❤️🐾

This big boy has been on an adventure for at least two weeks, and now that he’s finally safe, it’s clear he desperately needs medical attention.

We need to get him to the vet ASAP, but we can’t do it without your help. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help us get this sweet boy the care he needs. 🙏

HUGE shoutout to the homeowner whos bravery got this boy caught!

Also MASSIVE shout out to Beckie Sheehan and her family for not hesitating to take this baby in!💜

Ways to donate:

💜 Venmo:
💚 Cash App: $islasjourney
💙 PayPal: [email protected]
💛 Zelle: [email protected]

Please consider donating, sharing, or both! Let’s come together and get this big boy the medical care he needs. 🐾❤️

Thank you for helping us give him a second chance!

All jokes aside… does anyone have a vehicle just laying around that we could borrow for a little while? 😭 Because apparently we are now accepting donations in the form of functional transportation.

We are currently fighting Kia over an open safety recall, and with the symptoms our Kia is having, we absolutely do not feel safe driving it. Until Kia decides to get their act together and figure out what they're going to do, we are officially down a vehicle.

And unfortunately, life doesn't stop because Kia does. 🫠

My husband still has to get to work in Cape Canaveral. I still have to get my kids to and from school. And apparently stray dogs across Brevard County have not received the memo that Isla's Journey is temporarily without wheels. 😂

So yes, this is me swallowing every ounce of pride I have and asking:

Does anyone have an extra vehicle we could borrow temporarily?

It doesn't have to be pretty. It doesn't have to be fancy. It can have 300,000 miles, a questionable radio, and a passenger window that only rolls down if you threaten it.

If it safely gets from Point A to Point B, we will LOVE IT. 😂

We would obviously take care of it like it was our own. We just desperately need something to get our family — and the rescue — through this mess until Kia figures out what they're doing.

Because apparently “Mom, wife, and dog rescuer” requires transportation. Who knew? 🤦‍♀️🐾

Please message me if you might be able to help — and please share. 💜
