Today's the perfect day to say a few names out loud: Reba, ChuChu, Peanut, Mabel, and Sadie. Five very good dogs, five very different stories — all still waiting for the family that's meant to be theirs.

Happy National Dog Day from all of us at Riley's Rescue of Brevard! 🐾

Today we're celebrating every wiggly tail, every quirky personality, and every second chance that got us here, including Zeus, Max, Blue, Jake and Harley, and all the pups who've found their people through this rescue. Every single one of them reminds us why we do this work.

As a 100% foster-based rescue, we exist because our community shows up for dogs who need it most. There's always another dog waiting for their shot at a happy ending, and that happens because of fosters, adopters, donors, and volunteers like you.

These two sweethearts need a foster home before Labor Day. Unfortunately their parent has to go through medical care and can’t have dogs around during recovery. Please reach out or apply on our website if you are able to take in one or both of them!

Meet Boone. 🐾

Boone came to Riley's Rescue of Brevard in rough shape, severely underweight, covered in fleas, and clearly in need of a fresh start. Boone is now eating well, recovering beautifully, and settling into foster life one day at a time.

Here's what we know about this sweet pup so far:

🐶 Approximately 6 months old
⚖️ Around 30 pounds
🐾 Believed to be a Catahoula mix
🐕 Gets along well with other dogs
🏠 A total pro in the kennel, goes right in at night without a fuss

Boone is the kind of dog who takes a little time to warm up and look to you for reassurance before taking the next step. That kind of trust, once earned, is something really special.

Boone is currently in a loving foster home and can stay there until the perfect forever family comes along. If you think that might be you, we'd love to hear from you!

Haley needs a foster family, and Haley needs one now. 🧡

Haley is a dog who has been through a lot. Haley is still learning that the world can be a safe place, and right now, the most important thing we can do is get Haley into a calm, patient foster home where that healing can begin.

What we know about Haley:

🏠 Needs a foster home before coming into the rescue
👶 Has done well with children, including a 6-year-old and a 6-month-old
🐾 Takes time to warm up to new people (patience goes a long way with this one)
💛 Once Haley feels safe, the real personality starts to shine through

If you have a quiet, stable home and a little extra patience, you might be exactly what Haley needs right now. You don't have to be an experienced foster, just someone willing to give Haley the time and space to exhale.

Without a foster, we can't pull Haley into the rescue. Every day matters.
