If you use a car, you know its upkeep is not cheap, whether its maintance, gas, or bills. Because of this, for some, a bicycle becomes their preferred or only method of travel. So, if their bike is in disrepair, it means being disconnected from the world they know.

Thankfully, with the generosity of our volunteers, we are able to help repair clients' bikes so they are able continue on their journey home. It is just one of the many ways we stand with those in our community who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.

🚲 Happy World Bicycle Day!

Thank you to New Connections Academy for donating the spoils of your Penny War to JOURNEYS! The funds raised here go directly to helping those in our community who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity by providing them counseling services, hot meals, emergency shelters, and more.

Drives such as Penny Wars (also known as Coin/Penny Drives) are not only a great way to raise money for a good cause, but also a fun way to have people playfully compete against each other. Thank you again New Connections Academy!

Did you know that those who identify as LGBTQ+ are at higher risk of homelessness? This is often because of the rejection they experience from those who are suppose to love and care for them the most, as well as the many social hurdles still placed in the way of those who identify as LGBTQ+. It is a battle we help many face each day.

JOURNEYS The Road Home is a proud member of the Safe Space Alliance, assuring hatred towards someone's identity has no place here. Everyone deserves a home, a safe space of their own. We are here to help.

We wish you all a safe and happy Pride Month! 🌈

The end of the month has snuck up on us again. For some, it's a reminder of how fast the days pass by. For a lot of people, it's a time full of stressful deadlines. Bills to pay, rent to handle, paychecks to stretch, and other pressures that seem to pile up.

You don't have to wait for a deadline to ask for help.

If you or someone you know is living through housing insecurity or homelessness, we are here for you. Please visit JOURNEYS Monday through Friday to speak with a case manager about what we can do together.

Recently, Beth Nabors Powers was part of an incredible panel having real, honest conversations about mental health and community during Local Talks: Heavy Minds in Heavy Times.

Thank you to Love Local Chicagoland and Community Mental Health Project for hosting this event! And another thank you to all of those who stopped by! Now more than ever, it's important to have these conversations about how to better take care of our own mental health and how to use that to build a strong community together during these tough times.
