GivingTuesday may seem far away, but it's time to start thinking about how you can participate this year! On August 19, we want to help Johnson County nonprofits start planning for their campaigns.

We invite anyone connected to a nonprofit in Johnson County to join us and the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky for a virtual informational session and conversation about your invitation to join this GivingTuesday! Foundation staff will be sharing details about GivingTuesday as a global movement, the campaign, and why community campaigns work.

As an added bonus, any nonprofit that registers and attends will be entered to win a prize of $250!

Today, we join communities across the nation in recognizing Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality.

At the Johnson County Community Foundation, we believe strong communities are built when every individual has the opportunity to thrive. As we reflect on this day, we celebrate the strength of communities and the importance of creating opportunities for all.

Happy Juneteenth!

Today, we want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on one of our amazing affiliates: the Johnson County Community Foundation (JoCCF)! JoCCF was established in 2022 with the mission to promote philanthropy and bring together people and resources to identify and address the needs of the Johnson County community.

From inception until now, JoCCF has awarded more than $240,000 in local grants and scholarships. Throughout that time, they have awarded grants to support disaster recovery efforts, food security, tourism activities, art, culture, and youth projects.

In just four years, the Johnson County Community Foundation has made a significant impact in the Johnson County community. Some of their accomplishments include:
• Building a permanent local endowment fund to support charitable causes in Johnson County.
• Opening two scholarship funds to support local students.
• Responding to the 2022 flood utilizing their Johnson County Crisis Action Fund.

Their most recent and ongoing project is Reseat the Historic SIPP! This project focuses on replacing all the seats in their local theater and providing additional funding for the renovation of the building.

JoCCF is run by a board of local leaders from Johnson County, including: Daffiny Trimble (chair), Dewey Bocook (vice chair), Connie Bayes (treasurer), Tammy Barker (secretary), Doug Pugh (emeritus), John Michael Laney, Jerry Price, Barb Pugh, Angela Taylor, and Jennifer Wilson.

Today is KY Gives Day, and there’s still time to support the “ReSeat the SIPP” campaign!

If you have not made your donation yet, we encourage you to support the Historic SIPP Theatre — a treasured part of Johnson County since 1932. Your gift will help replace aging seats and create a more comfortable, welcoming experience for future generations to enjoy performances, events, and community gatherings.

Every donation helps preserve the history, culture, and community spirit of this beloved local landmark.

During April’s Volunteer Month, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible individuals who serve on our Johnson County Community Foundation Board.
Their leadership, vision, and commitment help guide the mission and strengthen the communities we serve every single day. They give their time, share their expertise, and lead with purpose—and we are deeply grateful.
Because of Daffiny Trimble, Dewey Bocook, Connie Bayes, Tammy Barker, John Michael Laney, Jerry Price, Barb Pugh, Doug Pugh (emeritus), Angela Taylor, Jennifer McCoart Wilson, and Judy Daniel (fiscal court liaison), meaningful change is not only possible—it’s happening in Johnson County.
Thank you for your service and for believing in the power of community.

Our community is our home—and caring for it starts with the world around us. 🌎
This Earth Day, we’re reminded that small actions can lead to lasting change. From protecting our natural spaces to supporting sustainable initiatives, every effort helps build a healthier future for all.
At the Johnson County Community Foundation, we’re proud to partner with local organizations and neighbors who are working to preserve and strengthen the environment we share.

Art connects us—across cultures, generations, and experiences. On World Art Day, we celebrate the creativity that lives in every corner of Johnson County.

From murals, community theater, and quilts that tell our shared stories to classrooms where imagination takes shape, art helps us see the world—and each other—differently.

At the Johnson County Community Foundation, we’re proud to support local artists, educators, and organizations who make our community more vibrant, inclusive, and inspired every day.
Join us in celebrating the power of art to bring people together.
