Food was prepared by F.A.T.S. Mobile Food Trailer and was excellent! Thank you FATS and staff! Also we would like to thank Chief Hummel for his time helping and presentation. Run update for past two weeks:

The department responded to 174 calls. 66 of these calls overlapped, which left the station empty 38% of the time. This is due to the duty crew responding to simultaneous calls. We in turn depended on surrounding cities resources (mutual aid received), to respond 5 times due to calls while crews were working other emergencies. Thank you for your help! We gave mutual aid once and automatic mutual aid twice. We received automatic mutual aid once. On top of our call volume members were able to complete 199 man hours of training.

Local 434 thanks everyone for their support!

Weekly breakdown…

The department responded to 92 calls for the week. This is an average of 13 calls per day. 43 calls during the week overlapped, meaning we had 2 or more emergencies happening at the same time. This is an average for the week of 6 times a day, or 47% of the time for the week the station was empty. We received Mutual Aid 1 time in the week. Of note, on the 15th we responded to Deerwood Ct. for a report of a trash container on fire. We arrived to find a garbage can that had been on fire, still smoldering, as well as an animal that was on fire in the back yard of the home. The animal was determined to be a raccoon, and the homeowner confessed to trying to get rid of the raccoon with gasoline and fireworks. The fires were extinguished and the homeowner was cited by Painesville PD for misuse of fireworks and animal cruelty.
PCFD members completed 75 man hours of training for the week.
Solid work men. We continue to push the envelope and do more with less. 47% of the week the station being empty means we are stretched beyond thin but always there to serve.

Call volume update: April 29- May 14
The dept responded to 151 calls to service.
66 of these calls overlapped (44% of cumulative total), meaning the dept resources were committed to calls and unavailable to respond should another emergency take place. We received Mutual Aid 5 times and Automatic Mutual Aid 4 times for this period. We provided manpower to surrounding depts twice. Members, on top of calls, were able to complete 336 man hours of training.
Our two new Full-time Firefighters have been working days completing competency training and acclimating to our department above expectation. On May 24th they will come off days and begin active duty status with their assigned shift. We are proud of their dedication to learning the PCFD way, and are confident they will maintain the sharp edge at the tip of the spear.

April 15th-29th operational summary

The department responded to 180 calls for the period. This is an average of 13 calls per day. 89 calls during the period overlapped, meaning we had 2 or more emergencies happening at the same time. This is an average for the period of 6 times a day, or 49% of the time for the period.
For those who are unfamiliar with what this means operationally, and to the citizens we serve, an explanation is best said as such. We staff a crew of 6 members. An example of a daily occurrence (6 times a shift for this summary period) is as follows.
Tones alarm for a medical emergency. 3 members respond. While that crew is providing care the tones alarm again for another call, requiring the 3 remaining members to respond in another apparatus. This leaves zero members at the station to respond should another emergency occur. In turn we ask surrounding communities to respond. This not only increases response time but also depletes resources from surrounding communities.

We received Mutual Aid 11 times in the period, we received Automatic Mutual Aid 3 times in the period, and we gave Automatic Mutual Aid 4 times in the period.

Members completed 130 man hours of training for this period.

Our call volume makes this single station the BUSIEST FIRE STATION IN LAKE COUNTY.

Weekly update: 4/03-4/09

The department responded to 93 calls for the week. This is an average of 13 calls per day. 41 calls during the week overlapped, meaning we had 2 or more emergencies happening at the same time. This is an average for the week of 6 times a day, or 44% of the time for the week. We received Mutual Aid 2 times in the week, we received Automatic Mutual Aid 1 time in the week, and we gave Automatic Mutual Aid 2 times in the week. Of note, on the 8th we responded in the area of Elm St. for a reported brush fire on the Diamond Shamrock property. We found a large area that was mostly burned out, and we received assistance from Fairport Harbor to extinguish the edges, as access had to be gained off Fairport Nursery Road. We activated MABAS Box 2315, 1st alarm, but resources were not needed. Members also completed 61 man hours of training.
As always we would like to thank our AMA departments for your help and resources.
