I (Toni) figured it was past time for a Ranch update:
At the end of April we had an emergency vet visit for one of our ponies, Levi (first picture), who was very sick. As the vet tried to sedate him he suddenly reared up, turned, and came down on top of me, taking me to the ground. I ended up with a dislocated arm and broken shoulder. An ER visit put the arm back in the socket, and a week later I had surgery to repair the broken shoulder. I am recovering well and am doing physical therapy to regain strength and mobility in that arm.
Unfortunately, Levi’s condition caused us to have to humanely euthanize him the day after the original incident. Roughly a week later I also said goodbye to my heart horse, Essex (second picture). We were no longer able to sufficiently manage her pain from severe arthritis.
I want to personally thank all those who donated to me or to the Ranch during this time, especially since I have been unable to work (I will be going back to work as soon as I am medically cleared). I also want to thank BWD Construction for donating their time and equipment when our backhoe broke down.
I want to reassure anyone interested in sessions that we are, indeed, still open for business! My wonderful volunteers are helping me when needed, so please don’t hesitate to call and schedule a session.
