We are proud to present our newest addition to the Ranch, generously funded by Gunfighters Incorporated. Meet Annie Oakley, a super sweet Friesian/Percheron cross mare. We have some work to do, but she is already taking her place in our session program. Thank you Ken Gaeta and the Gunfighters!

We lost a good one Monday. Bae crossed over sometime during the night. Although we only had him for 3 years, he became one of our primary session horses, taking great care of kids and adults alike. He was the epitome of patience and long-suffering, especially with the young’uns. Our sweet half-blind Tigger is especially devastated, as they were bonded like super glue. Bae leaves behind a big hole in our hearts. Run free, sweet Bae!

We are celebrating a very special adoption. Our youngest rescued horse, Genesis was only 3 months old when we rescued her and her mother from a kill lot. Laura met her soon after and fell in love. After a 9 year love affair, Laura is finally in a position to officially adopt her.
Please meet Laura and Lucy!
Laura is completing her certification in Equine Massage Therapy, and I can attest to the positive results on the horses she has worked on. She will be doing business as Wild Heart Healing Equine Therapy.

I (Toni) figured it was past time for a Ranch update:
At the end of April we had an emergency vet visit for one of our ponies, Levi (first picture), who was very sick. As the vet tried to sedate him he suddenly reared up, turned, and came down on top of me, taking me to the ground. I ended up with a dislocated arm and broken shoulder. An ER visit put the arm back in the socket, and a week later I had surgery to repair the broken shoulder. I am recovering well and am doing physical therapy to regain strength and mobility in that arm.
Unfortunately, Levi’s condition caused us to have to humanely euthanize him the day after the original incident. Roughly a week later I also said goodbye to my heart horse, Essex (second picture). We were no longer able to sufficiently manage her pain from severe arthritis.
I want to personally thank all those who donated to me or to the Ranch during this time, especially since I have been unable to work (I will be going back to work as soon as I am medically cleared). I also want to thank BWD Construction for donating their time and equipment when our backhoe broke down.
I want to reassure anyone interested in sessions that we are, indeed, still open for business! My wonderful volunteers are helping me when needed, so please don’t hesitate to call and schedule a session.

After 9 years of not having one, we finally pulled off our “annual” Fall PlayDay! Smaller than in past years, but the food was good, the games were fun, and the fellowship with Ranch families was wonderful. Hopefully we’ll see you all there next year!
