New scoreboards are now in place at Paden City High School thanks to the efforts of some dedicated organizations and individuals. The previous scoreboards in Bob Burton Gymnasium were removed when Wetzel County Schools closed PCHS and removed much of the equipment from the building before turning it over to the Paden City Development Authority. The scoreboards from the Bob Burton Gymnasium were taken down and relocated to the Paden City Elementary School for use in the gym there. Although this was a nice addition for that gym, it left a void that needed filled at PCHS in order to make that facility fully operational for sporting events. Through the generosity of Wildcat Boosters and the Paden City Foundation, along with the efforts of Kelly Sine of the Paden City Development Authority, new scoreboards were ordered and the funding secured to purchase and install them in a matter of a few weeks.
Paden City Foundation President Rodney McWilliams noted, “Kelly Sine (PCDA) was instrumental in locating scoreboards to be put back in Bob Burton Gymnasium in order to make that facility a fully operational gym for use by area youth and adult sports program and the community, in general. The Wildcat Boosters partnered with The Paden City Foundation to provide the funding. Each organization donated $5,000 to achieve the $10,000 needed to purchase and install two wireless controlled scoreboards. The Paden City Foundation is very happy to provide part of the funding to help move this project along and restore Bob Burton Gymnasium.” The decision and presentation of funds were finalized at the December meeting of the Paden City Foundation on Monday, December 15, 2025. Jon Baker, president of the Wildcat Boosters commented, “The Boosters want to do what we can to get these scoreboards up and running. The Boosters met last week and agreed to donate $5,000 provided the Foundation was able to match the donation.”
The check was presented to James “Cork” Bowen, president of the Paden City Development Authority who added, “Thank you to the Paden City Foundation and the Wildcat Boosters for the funding for this project. This is a great gift.”
