Today we recognize International Women's Day, a global day honoring the achievements of women and continuing the work toward equality.

The day began more than a century ago as women organized for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the right to vote.

That same spirit continues today through organizations like the American Association of University Women. For more than 140 years, AAUW has worked to advance equity for women and girls through education, advocacy, and community engagement.

Here in Pacifica, our local AAUW branch carries that mission forward by bringing people together for conversation, learning, and action — supporting opportunities for women and helping build a more equitable future.

💬 On this International Women’s Day, we’d love to hear from you:
Who is a woman who has inspired you? Share her name in the comments so we can celebrate her together. 💜

Every generation of women has passed this torch forward.

This -- "I am that girl. You are that girl. Together we change the world."

Kimothy Joy, the artist behind this stunning illustration, wrote on Instagram that she "created this design in collaboration with the non-profit I Am That Girl as a symbol of our collective power, solidarity, and an overall affirmation that we are all wondrous and strong beyond belief! May we pose the question time and time again, what change can we bring about in our world when we are a united front?"

Kimothy is the creator of a gorgeous book featuring the portraits and stories of 50 incredible women for teens and adults at https://www.amightygirl.com/that-s-what-she-said

She also created a lovely illustrated book celebrating the beauty and power of female friendship: "Extraordinary Wing Women" at https://bookshop.org/a/8011/9780063161115 (Bookshop) and https://amzn.to/3NqJ8Ej (Amazon)
