Passing along for anyone interested:

There will be a Neighborhood Alliance meeting this Thursday, May 7th at 6 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church.

A city engineer will be present to discuss the intersection at 26th Street and Byers Avenue—this is a great opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and stay informed about what’s happening in our community.

We hope to see you there!

If your property backs up to the ditch, please make sure to keep your fence line clean and avoid dumping grass clippings or any other debris into it. The city is actively working on this area and will continue maintenance efforts.

If your property is visible from Byers Avenue and your fence is torn or falling apart, it must be repaired or replaced in accordance with city guidelines.

This applies to anyone whose property backs up to any of our ditch lines or basins.

Hi neighbors! 👋

We wanted to bring something to everyone’s attention and ask for your help. Recently, golf balls have been hit around the Summer Walk area, and unfortunately, a few homes have already been damaged.

We know this likely isn’t being done with bad intentions, but it is creating a safety concern and causing costly damage. We kindly ask that whoever is responsible please stop immediately.

If you happen to have seen anything or have any information that could help us figure out what’s going on, we’d really appreciate you reaching out privately.

Our goal is simply to keep this a safe and enjoyable place for everyone. Thanks so much for looking out for one another! 💛

MESSAGE FROM THE CITY OF OWENSBORO:

The City is asking residents of the Heartlands to stop dumping grass clippings into storm drains. This practice can clog the drains, leading to standing water in ditches. Standing water creates ideal conditions for mosquitoes and other pests.

Please do not place grass, trash, or any debris into concrete ditches or drainage systems. Violations may result in fines.

Make sure if your property has a ditch behind it that you are mowing to your property line/required area.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this request you may contact City Action directly as they are the ones in control of these items.

Thank you.

Just a reminder for Heartlands residents — NO dumping in the basins.

We recently found trash, old fencing material and nails, rocks, bikes and even toys back there.
We are paying to have these areas mowed because the city only comes every 6 weeks, and this just adds to the problem.

Please respect the neighborhood and clean up after yourselves.

Please note that if you are using the areas for fishing to clean up after yourself, if these issues continue our mowing cannot continue as these items tear up equipment.

Hi neighbors! 👋

Just a friendly reminder about when to contact the City of Owensboro for certain issues in our neighborhood. While our HOA handles community standards, some concerns should go directly to the city so they can be properly addressed.

📞 You can contact the city through
City of Owensboro (City Action / main line: (270) 687-4444)

For zoning or property use concerns, you may also contact:
Owensboro Planning & Zoning

🚨 If there is an urgent safety concern or criminal activity, please contact:
Owensboro Police Department

For HOA-related matters (lawn care, home appearance, neighborhood rules), please continue to contact the HOA as usual.

Thank you for helping keep Heartland a safe and well-maintained community! 🏡

Attention Heartland Homeowners:

Please be extra cautious while driving through neighborhoods—kids are out riding bikes and mopeds, and they may not always see or hear you coming. 🚲🛵

Take a moment to slow down, stay alert, and watch for children in the streets and driveways.

Parents, this is also a great time to remind your kids about helmet use and road safety.

Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe.

The City of Owensboro wants to share how our Snow Routes work.

During light to moderate winter weather, crews focus on clearing 132 of the City’s 225 miles of streets. In heavier storms or snow emergencies, crews may expand operations to include all city streets.

So how are Snow Routes determined? Priority is given to the busiest roads first (Priority 1 & 2 routes are pictured in the map below), followed by streets that connect to critical locations, including:

• Police and fire stations
• Medical facilities and nursing homes
• Ambulance services
• Public utilities
• Major employers and shopping areas
• Streets with steep hills or sharp curves

This approach helps keep essential services moving and improves safety for drivers across the city. Please do not park vehicles along these routes, as they can block snow removal efforts.

If your home is not on the priority, one or priority two list, you are responsible for snow removal of your property.
