“WE SEE YOU” focuses on women and girls of all ages living, working, or volunteering in the city of Owasso who exemplify positive character traits day-in and day-out behind the scenes. The “WE SEE YOU” recognition highlights individuals with qualities that form the foundation of our community.

Michelle Farabough – 2024 WSY Recipient

Michelle has served at Pamela Hodson Elementary in Owasso as the School Library Media Specialist for six years. She taught future librarians and pre-med students at the University of North Texas. She also worked in information science at the OSU Center for Health Sciences and OU Health Sciences Center. Michelle has a doctorate in Information Science from UNT College of Information School. In 2008, she earned her master’s degree in knowledge management from the University of Oklahoma’s Department of Library and Information Studies. Michelle has two adult sons, Evan, and Ross; both Owasso High School graduates.

In recognition of your willingness to invest in students in a way that promotes knowledge and the love of books as the Library Media Specialist at Hodson Elementary School in Owasso. Your commitment to provide a friendly and safe environment for student learning and exploration will leave a lasting impact on those you serve. Grace Gatton – 2024 WSY Recipient

Grace is 14 years old and a 9th grader at Owasso High School. She is part of the Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, the Owasso High School Choir, and a two time All State choir member. Grace enjoys volunteering at her church (Owasso First Assembly) and Dress for Success. She also enjoys raising money for John 3:16 and The Salvation Army. In her free time, Grace enjoys hanging out with her friends & family, and singing on the OFA Youth worship team.

In recognition of your commitment to being a positive role model to your peers at Owasso High School and a champion and defender of those in need within your community. Your testament of faith has been one of strength and resilience and is an encouragement for others to pursue Christ and overcome adversity. Olivia Serio – 2024 WSY Recipient

Olivia is 16 and a 10th-grader at Owasso Public Schools. She is part of the National Honor Society and has a 4.0. She is actively involved in the community, working as part of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) since 2022, volunteering with Owasso Indian Education, Owasso Cherokee Organization, Cherokee Nation District 13, Odyssey of the Mind, Foyil Music Studio, the OHS Creative Writing Club, and numerous school events. She is an active member of First Baptist Church Owasso, volunteering with the tech crew there. She loves all things art, often competing in Art shows, and her current career goal is to become a Police Officer.

In recognition of your positive attitude and the integrity in which you serve in the Owasso schools and community. Your dedication as a volunteer for the Creative Writing Club, Cancer Awareness Gathering, and OPS Native American Day demonstrates a heart of true community. Vernita Russell was born and raised in Tulsa, OK and is the third of seven children. Vernita and her husband, Anthony have lived in Owasso for ten years. She is the mother of five children, two boys and three girls. Vernita has been a Medical Coder for seven years. She is also a Mortgage Loan Officer, Social Media Coordinator, and an Insurance Agent.

Mia, affectionately known as Sophie (her middle name) is in 8th grade and attends the Owasso 8th Grade Center. She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and loves helping students with Special Needs. Mia also likes to volunteer at her church St. Henry Catholic Church. She loves God, her family, and her friends. Mia also enjoys watching sunsets.

In recognition of your ability to demonstrate compassion towards others in need. Your servant’s heart can be seen in the way you assist students with special needs at Owasso schools, as well as the help you extend to friends and others in your community. Pam is the Principal's Administrative Assistant for Owasso Public Schools at Barnes Elementary where she has worked for nearly 19 years. She and her husband, Rob, have four children, three son-in-laws, and four grandsons. Pam is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and currently serves as a Service Missionary in the welfare area. She has served with all ages of children and youth over the years as well as leadership roles with the youth and in the women's Relief Society. Pam has called Owasso her home for over 35 years and feels truly blessed to live and serve in such an amazing community.

In recognition of your commitment to ensuring that things run smoothly as the Principal’s Administrative Assistant at Barnes Elementary School in Owasso. Alisa also lends her voice and expertise as a champion for expecting and parenting young adults, grandparents, and families.

Hallie Salas graduated here in Owasso in 2011. She has seven siblings, two brothers and five sisters, two nephews and one niece. Hallie loves dogs and works at Bring Your Own Dog where she’s been for two years.
