FCAN urges you to VOTE NO on AUGUST 4.

In 1956, the "Triple Play" scandal exposed how the practice of electing judges enabled backroom deals, eroding public trust. Public outrage translated into action. Kansans began pushing for a structural change to prevent such abuses in the future by proposing a constitutional amendment to remove Supreme Court selection from direct partisan elections and political appointment. This system, which prioritizes legal qualifications, democratic accountability, and independence, has remained in place since 1958.

On August 4, Kansas voters will go to the polls to determine the future of the Kansas Supreme Court. Will we keep our current merit-based process, or will we return to the days of backroom deals and corruption?

Hope House Ottawa KS is in need of perishable food items, specifically milk, butter, and eggs. They lost 70 dozen eggs that had been delivered by Harvesters on Monday due to the power outage. They are taking donations on the east side of the building today (Thursday) starting at 4 PM or any time they are open (see link to their page above).

Hope House is a not-for-profit organization found in 1990 by churches in Franklin County to meet crisis or emergency needs in the community. Hope House does not attempt to duplicate ministries of member churches, but rather provides help that many churches lack resources to undertake.

This! Vote suppression must stop!

Mail-in voting is safe, secure, and deeply rooted in our democracy. Even President Donald Trump recently cast a mail-in ballot in Florida’s special election, despite the Administration's ongoing efforts to limit mail-in voting access. For more than a century, Americans have relied on voting by mail, and in 2020, 69% of voters cast their ballots early or by mail (U.S. Census Bureau).

As debunked conspiracies about mail-in fraud continue to erode trust in elections, we will continue to fight bad bills that strip away mail-in voting access, such as the current proposed legislation in Kansas, Sub Bill for SB65 and Sub Bill for SB394, which would further restrict access to the ballot box. We won’t stop defending your freedom to vote.
