🔦Here is our final Actor SPOTLIGHT! 🔦

If you saw the show, you'd recognize these two faces. Mortimer and Elaine become engaged in Act 1, but do they stay engaged by the end of Act III? Hopefully, you found out!

Christina Rogers (Elaine Harper) is a born and raised Oswego native. Her theatre credits include Oswego Players productions of “Check Please!” a dinner theatre production held at LaParilla. Night Must Fall, where she played Nurse Libby. Game of the Week, a one act play that was a 2023 winner of the Don McCann playwriting contest, also her first ever lead role where she played Kat. Lastly she was an ancestor in The Borderline Players production of “The Addams Family” musical when she lived in Vermont. This was her second lead role, and first in a full-length production.

Christina's Elaine brings wonderful, bright, sparkling energy to the stage, is a wonderful foil for Mortimer, and has great s***k whilst keeping her eye on the prize.

Will Bandla (Mortimer Brewster) has had a long-term involvement of acting and tech with Oswego Players spanning over a decade. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre from SUNY Fredonia. Having returned to local theatre, he was most recently in “Death Trap” as Clifford Anderson. Mortimer Brewster is a theatre critic with many criticisms of not just the theatre, but also the human race.

Will's Mortimer may be a straight-and-narrow kind of guy, but his facial expressions, frequent visible panic about his family, and reaction to anything and everything were incredibly entertaining on the stage! His timing was incredible.

Happy final show everyone!

We still have some openings for Saturday night!

Are you ready for another Actor Spotlight?

Stephen Shepherd as Teddy Brewster is funny, delightful, boisterous, and for certain portrays an...eccenteic man who believes himself to be Teddy Roosevelt. Wonder what's down in the basement that he refers to as the Panama Canal?
Stephen is a regular face in the Syracuse area, particularly with CNY Playhouse and but this is his debut at Oswego Players, Inc. with BTR!

Bill Cowham plays Lieutenant Rooney, a no-nonsense member of the Brooklyn police that, while appearing sharp, doesn't seem to realize the goings on at the Brewster residence.

Bill returned to the stage with the Oswego Players in 2023. In 2024 he had lead roles as Sidney Bruhl in “Deathtrap” and Rudy Heller in “The Man Who Killed the Cure,” for which he received a TANYS Excellence in Acting award.

Come see them both tonight at Arsenic and Old Lace: A Dark Comedy !

🔦 Actor Spotlight on three of Brooklyn's finest...

Troy Pepper's Officer Brophy is pleasant, well-meaning, and a great counterpart to the other officers. He is a boyfriend, father of 3, “Papa” to 2, theatre major from Daemen College, 5 yr Novelis Hotline employee, 23 yr member of the Oswego Players, and current board member. Next year he celebrates 20 yrs as a director. He will be directing “Blithe Spirit” next year.

Sarah Galvin's Officer Klein is expressive, funny, and has a lot of s***k. She originally hails from Oswego but is now proud to call Fulton her home. She previously performed with the Oswego Players as the Stenographer in Nicholas Gentile's "Crimes of Passion" Catch Sarah on banjo and Katie Donovan on fiddle as The Goodnight Ladies Singalong String Band, playing hits from the 1920s to the 2020s at an elder care community near you!

Brian O'Connor II's Officer O’Hara has ambition, is clearly not a competent cop (but a very competent actor), and is hilarious. This is Brian’s first production with Oswego Players. Brian has performed all over the greater Syracuse area including Auburn Players, Shakespeare in the Park, and CNY Playhouse.

Enjoy the show and the comedic relief!

With just a couple short hours until curtain up on Arsenic and Old Lace, it's time for another ACTOR SPOTLIGHT!

Meet your leading ladies, Kimberly Vogt (Abby Brewster) and Tammy Thompson (Martha Brewster) !

Tammy Thompson, a frequent face in Oswego Player casting, is reprising the role of Martha Brewster, one of the delightfully eccentric aunts that headlines the show. She expressed her excitement in reappearing as Martha 40 years later. “I was part of the 1984 season of Prairie Repertory Theatre in South Dakota. It was my first lead role in college! I am so happy to be sharing the stage with some of my favorite people and being directed by another of my favorite people! There is so much joy and laughter each night of rehearsal! I can’t wait to share this production with audiences.”

Her counterpart, Kimberly Vogt, portrays the equally charming sister, Aunt Abby Brewster. Concerning the rehearsal process, Vogt said, “This experience has been great. We have such a good cast. Kevin has been wonderful as a director. He gives valuable feedback and listens to his actors for their suggestions as well. The show is going to be fantastic and I cannot wait for people to see it!”

Both aunts bemuse their nephew Mortimer as he discovers more about their activities behind closed basement doors. Will Bandla plays the role of Mortimer Brewster, a cynic and drama critic hoping to marry, but that may be superseded by his family’s troubling penchant for crimes and wines. 🍷

🔦 Time for another Actor Spotlight for Arsenic and Old Lace!

Ms. Witherspoon (Played by Mary Stancampiano) and the Rev. Dr. Harper (played by Casandra Sharp) are both arguably the most innocent characters in the show. Both actresses bring a kind of solemness and straight character foil, since so much ridiculousness happens throughout the show. You need a few sane people in this show, and Sharp and Stancampiano are both grounding and pleasant.

Harper is Elaine's protective and pious mother. She is unsuspecting of the goings on in the home of Abby and Martha Brewster. She's not sure what to make of Mortimer Brewster, who has been bringing Elaine on many dates to plays and musicals.

Stancampiano also portrays Mr. Gibbs, a lonely gentleman who just so happens to have no kin, "all alone in the world" and has been invited to the Brewster residence, perhaps for a glass of elderberry wine?🍷
We don't meet Witherspoon until Act III, And you'll just have to come and see what kind of fate is in store for her.

Find out at our performances with Oswego Players, Inc. this weekend and next!

Only TWO days until opening night! Are you ready for a spotlight on some of our talented actors?

🔦Let's introduce you to two of the characters in Arsenic and Old Lace: A Dark Comedy

Paul Cayen (Jonathan Brewster) and Scott Bandla (Dr. Einstein) portray our antagonists in this production.

Paul is really a nice guy in real life, we promise. He and his character Jonathan are total opposites in terms of compassion (Jonathan has none) and ruthlessness (Paul is the sweetest.) Martha, Abby, and Mortimer all reminisce on how Jonathan was as a boy. Mortimer says he was the kind of boy who liked to "cut worms in two...with his teeth." According to his demeanor and illegal accomplishments, Jonathan hasn't changed much.

Scott Bandla's German accent, expressions, and mannerisms in his Dr. Einstein are wonderful character acting. Dr Einstein is a classic bumbling henchman with plenty of comic relief sprinkled throughout the play. You will find him hilarious when you come to see our show!
