A Scout is Reverent.
This is a very interesting annual event hosted by Scouting America. While our Pack isn’t doing anything as a Pack, feel free to participate on your own. This event is honored by attending your normal religious service while in your scouting uniform and being reverent during the service. Typically it’s held on the closest day to Feb 8th but any time in February is considered valid. Patches are available on scoutshop.org for purchase.
Scout Sunday, Scout Sabbath (Shabbat), and Scout Jumuah are faith based celebrations observed each February by Scouting America. These observances highlight the Scout Law point, “A Scout is Reverent,” and provide an opportunity for Scouts to honor their faith, thank their chartered organizations, and share the Scouting program with their religious communities.
The celebrations are typically scheduled around Scouting America’s anniversary on February 8, although exact dates vary by faith tradition and congregations may select a different date to meet their needs. Scout Sunday is usually observed on a Sunday, Scout Sabbath takes place from Friday sunset through Saturday sunset, and Scout Jumuah is observed from Thursday sunset through Friday sunset.
Units are encouraged to use the PowerPoint presentations that are on our Faith Based Celebrations webpage to help share information about their unit and the Scouting program during these observances.
