The University of Maine has announced its intention to demolish Crossland Hall, the OLDEST BUILDING ON CAMPUS. In fact, Crossland pre-dates the University itself.

The Board of Directors of the Orono Historical Society has sent letters to both the Town of Orono and the University of Maine Trustees opposing this action.

However. The voice of citizens is desperately needed. Speaking isn't necessary, but showing up in opposition to the University's plans is critical to the efforts to save this historic structure.

We hope that you will join the cause on MONDAY, JANUARY 26 at 8AM in Room 1 of the WELLS CONFERENCE CENTER on the Orono campus.

If you would like to speak in person or via Zoom, please sign up using this link:

The BOT meeting will be held on the UM campus at Wells Conference Center, Room 1. The public comment sign up will start at 8am. Public comment is at 8:30 am and is limited to 3 minutes per person for a total of an hour. Online sign ups are now open at this website (to speak via Zoom): https://www.maine.edu/board-of-trustees/.

There is also a Google Form set up by those opposed to Crossland's demoliton. They're asking that anyone planning to attend sign up in advance.
