Our second meetup is officially in the books and it was an amazing time🎉

We welcomed some new artists to the group and got to see some of the projects that everyone has been working on!

Some highlights from the day:✨️

☆ Meeting the new artists

☆All the laughs (what a hype crew!)

☆ shared her beautiful miniature painting. Check out her page to see it, it's pretty incredible.

☆ shared a dance song that he brought together in only 3 hours. It was nothing short of impressive💫

☆ shared an excerpt from a series of short stories that she's writing about the importance and impact of girlhood in women's lives. It was powerful to say the least!

☆ is an illustrator who shared some of his past work with us. Colorful, detailed, simply moving and unique. It truly speaks for itself so go check it out!

☆ is a spoken word poet and musician who shared some of his music with us. His lyrics are honest, vulnerable, and are sharpening.

☆Abner is a spoken word poet who shared a powerful piece that conveys the struggle of feeling like God is far as well as what it would look like to have that conversation with Him.

☆As everyone shared, we got to encourage, lift up and give feedback to one another.

What a time!

If you are interested in hanging out with us, keep your eyes peeled! We will be announcing the dates for some more meetups soon🙏

It's been a minute, but we haven't forgotten!
Our Artist Highlight for this week is Caleb Stephan.

Caleb is a singer, songwriter, poet, and lover of all things deep. His songs carry a common sense of wrestling with the "already" and "not yet" that we as believers experience every day.

His piece "Marigold". echos this theme, as he sings a about the tendency to chase after temporary things to fill us, though our hearts beckon us towards God. We can all relate to to this, as it began in the garden and changed humanity forever, but Caleb's song reminds us that God is never-changing, ever-present, and can satisfy all our needs if only we come to Him.

Take a look at the lyrics below and swipe to hear some of this piece:

"dear marigold fields
wrapped in your fragility
dressed up just enough to stay pretty
I fell into you
with your golden complexion
and the fragrance you're masked in

it's so easy to forget
that you're here today but gone the next

oh mangrove shores
I once swam through your tangled roots
and found beneath your mire held truth

but I held my breath
as your waters started to climb
I think I drank too much of your brine
felt it sour inside

still I easily forget
that you're here today but gone the next

regress and relapse
cause I don't wanna wait
hoping something I drank
can just fill in all the gaps
of these cracks that run deep
from the tension I keep
when I ignore all my dreams
and every good ache
they're just something I hate
but I'm bursting at the seams
I've been keeping it down
all the bile I've found
trying to run from everything

ruffles like sunset
that honor the dead
I just misplaced
all the grace in your breath

stilts that support
above estuaries
I know your roots
but forgot all your leaves

my Comforter
I've neglected Your peace
is all my pain
something I can release?

holding out my hand
can You take it again?

be the stillness I crave
when all that I see are waves

let me not forget
that You're here today and still the next"

Our first official meetup is in the books!⚡️

Yesterday, we gathered at Oh Hey Cafe for a time of fellowship, sharing art, & of course good coffee!
We got to meet some new artists and hear a little bit about what they've worked on and what brought them to ZING. Yesterday filled our cups for sure!

Some highlights include:

⭐️Meeting the new artists!

⭐️ Rowan Munkberg shared a STUNNING painting of a bromeliad to symbolize coming out of a dark season far from God and stepping into a new season into the light of God.

⭐️ Jaz Maria shared a dance piece with us. She performed a Praise Dance piece where she was able to portray the perspective of both God & man to the song, "Come out of Hiding" by Steffany Gretzinger. It was profoundly moving.

⭐️ Korryn shared an art piece that displayed the movement of being close-fisted to being open-handed with God. It was captivating!

⭐️One of our members (Nadia) forgot her capo and another member kindly offered to be the capo for her😅 Improvisation at it's best.

⭐️ Nadia Chong shared a song about feeling the weight of the demands of life so much so, that her sense of self feels distant. The tension between the stress of the present and the fullness of life we'll experience in Heaven feels so tangible.

⭐️ Shakayla Brown shared a design inspired by Japanese playing cards. She hopes to create a series inspired by this style but based on Florida. We're excited to see how it turns out!

It was a great first meetup and we took notes to see how we can make the next one even better💪

We plan to have another in August so keep your eyes peeled👀 We wanna see you there!!

Until then, see ya artists👋
