Once again, Desantis and Florida politicians giving police the power to further criminalize citizens by labeling them as gang members, by broadening what is considered criminal behavior, by increasing penalties for said crimes.

Last weekend, OAPC joined Orlando 50501 for a rally denouncing ICE and it's violent crimes against our communities.

"At least 10 people have been fatally shot by federal immigration enforcement agents during President Donald Trump’s second presidential term, with recent deadly assaults taking the lives of 52-year-old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo — a Mexican national, father and construction worker living in Texas — and 25-year-old Colombian father and food delivery driver Joan Sebastián Durán Guerrero of Maine."

We are grateful for the sense of community and solidarity in the City Beautiful and will continue to use all tools at our disposal to stand up for those targeted and marginalized by the police in My uniform!

Come join us August 1st at the Orlando Public Library to get involved in the struggle for police accountability and community control of the police here in Orlando. We will discuss and plan upcoming events as well as strategize for our Police Civilian Review Board campaign. Meeting is open to the public, bring a friend!

"From 2003 to 2024, ANNUAL deaths caused by law enforcement and reported in death certificate data increased from 363 to 809 among adults and from 8 to 37 among children. We are outraged and heartbroken by the death of Kohen Wiley. We stand with his family and with the ongoing protests against police violence in Mississippi and around the United States.

July 14th marks one month since the Senatobia Police Department shot and killed Kohen Wiley based on allegations that his mother had stolen a package of diapers. The value of a child’s life is worth so much more than anything that could have been stolen.

We believe that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. If you feel the same way, please join us as we gather to Say His Name.

The narrative that more police and higher police budgets help fight or prevent crime is actually a total fabrication.

"Overall, sheriff patrol officers spend significantly more time on officer-initiated stops – “proactive policing” in law enforcement parlance – than they do responding to community members’ calls for help, according to the report. Research has shown that the practice is a fundamentally ineffective public safety strategy, the report pointed out.
In 2019, 88% of the time L.A. County."

A new report adds to a growing line of research showing that police departments don’t solve serious or violent crimes with any regularity, and in fact, spend very little time on crime control, in contrast to popular narratives.

People can find parking near the beginning of the route at Division and Anderson. There is an empty lot across from Knowledge for Living. Or, park near City Hall and walk to meet us at the start point.

We’re Crossing the Bridge on Juneteenth.

Since the original announcement, more organizations and community leaders have joined as endorsers. We’re grateful for the growing coalition standing up for voting rights.

Across Florida and around the country, attacks on voting rights continue. Efforts to redraw maps and weaken the political voice of Black communities threaten hard-won gains secured through generations of struggle and sacrifice.

But voting rights were paid for in blood, sweat, and tears by the Civil Rights Movement, and we will not stand by while they are rolled back.

Join us on June 19th as we honor that legacy and continue the fight for full equality and Black political power.
