A Rescue Based in Central Florida Saving Dogs in Need Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help.

We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,200 dogs since 2008. Please help us save even more with a donation marked "Special Needs". We heard you were interested in adopting a dog… and Benita is all ears! 🐶

This playful 2-year-old Terrier blended gal is looking for a family who will shower her with tennis balls, play endless games of fetch and snuggle her during thunderstorms (she’s not a fan).

Beyond her love of fetch and cuddles, Benita is a pretty easygoing gal when it comes to her future home. She has good manners and we think she’d be happy in an apartment, condo, or single-family home. She gets along with other dogs, and we think she’d be okay with cats and older kids, too.

HILDA’S JOURNEY |PART 3: Little Steps, BIG Victories!

Remember Hilda, the frightened little girl who struggled to trust anyone? Well, look at her now! 🥹

Hilda is making amazing progress in her foster home!
She’s now eating alongside the other dogs without any issues! She refuses to go outside unless her furry friends join her! And she’s officially discovered the joys of Football Sunday, cozy blankets, and snuggles!

These may seem like little things, but for Hilda, they’re HUGE milestones.

This is what fostering makes possible!

💛 Viserion is home! 💙

From being one of the 17 dogs we rescued from the Lake County case - in which over 80 dogs were removed from one home - to officially finding his forever home.

Viserion came to us scared and timid, but with love, patience, and time in foster care, this sweet boy started to blossom.

Then everything changed at our meet and greet event in Lake Nona last month. Viserion met his future family, stole their hearts, and they applied to adopt him right after the event.

Now he is officially home and starting his next chapter surrounded by love.

Sometimes one meeting and one special connection can change a rescue dog’s life forever.

Cannoli is still waiting for his sweet ending! 🤎

Meet Cannoli, an 8-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua–Miniature Pinscher mix with a little crunch on the outside and a whole lot of sweetness underneath!

When Cannoli first came into rescue, he was suffering from a severe tick infestation. Thankfully, with veterinary care and treatment, he began showing incredible improvement.

Now, four months later, Cannoli is still waiting for someone to give him a chance.

This little guy has been through so much. New places can feel overwhelming and he may need a little time to trust, but behind that cautious exterior is a sweet boy who deserves to feel safe and loved.

🏡 Cannoli’s dream home? A quiet, calm environment with patient humans who will let him settle in at his own pace.

He doesn’t need a perfect home or a busy life full of adventures. He just needs someone who sees beyond his fears and gives him the love and security he’s been waiting for.

Welcome, Echo! 👋

Three-year-old Echo came into our care after her owners told us they were losing their home and asked for our help.

They sent us a photo of a freshly groomed dog when asking for our help - so when we met Echo, we were stunned by her condition. Filthy, matted, and caked with urine and f***s that had been building up in her fur for a very long time.

Our amazing vet partners at Integrative Animal Hospital spent hours gently shaving her down, removing more than half a pound of urine and f***s soaked matting to help her feel more comfortable.

This is just the start of your healing journey, Echo. We’re so happy you’re in our care. 💖 🐕

Lucky Me? ….Lucky YOU! 🍀

Adopt Lucky! He’s a 7‑year‑old long‑haired Chihuahua weighing almost 10 pounds.

Lucky is happiest when he’s close to the people he loves. He enjoys curling up for snuggles, sharing sweet kisses, and spending quiet moments together. He also has a charming habit of batting a treat around like a cat before finally deciding it’s time to eat it.

Lucky has good manners and is a pleasant companion to live with. He does best with regular potty breaks and settles nicely into a routine. While he can occasionally be a little determined about doing things his way, he responds well to patient guidance and has a clever mind that takes in more than you might expect.

Lucky would truly shine as an only pet. He enjoys having his own space and can be protective of his meals around other dogs. He has not been tested with cats, but his easygoing nature suggests he may do well with respectful introductions and clear boundaries.

Lucky has not lived with children, and because he can be sensitive in unfamiliar situations, we believe he would be happiest in an adult home or one with older, dog‑savvy children who understand the value of patience and personal space.

Lucky is looking for a chihuahua saavy, calm, quiet single‑family home where he can settle in at his own pace. Given time, reassurance, and understanding, he relaxes beautifully and his playful, charming personality begins to emerge.

Registration is $20 per person in advance or $25 at the door. All proceeds benefit Franklin’s Friends and local animal welfare organizations.

Happy Tails, featuring Poodle and Pooch alum - Cali! 🐕

When we first met Cali last summer, she was emaciated, weak, and covered in painful sores. Her eyes were sealed shut from infection, and we weren’t sure if she’d ever see again. But thanks to an incredible network of volunteers, donors, and veterinary partners (plus, the outpouring of support from our followers) Cali got the care she needed to heal.

Cali was adopted by an incredible rescue-savvy couple. They adore Cali and are absolutely devoted to all their pets! Cali loves her three rescued fur-siblings and the spacious fenced yard where she has plenty of room to play and explore.

Cali’s family recently shared some updated photos with us and we’re blown away by how amazing she looks. When she first came into our care, she was just 7 lbs. Now, she’s a healthy 20 lbs. and looks fantastic. It’s hard to believe that she was in such dire shape just one year ago, and now, she’s living the dream.

Thank you for helping us give this special girl a second chance! 🐾
