We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes

directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,200 dogs since 2008. Please help us save even more with a donation marked "Special Needs". Our greatest need is for donations for our Special Needs dogs who are listed on the "Save a Dog" page on our website at www.PPRFL.org.

Adopt Thunder! He’s a 2 year old, 7-pound Papillon blend.

Favorite Things: Thunder enjoys peaceful days spent nearby, whether that’s stretching out in a warm lap or simply relaxing alongside his family. He has a light, playful side but is just as happy unwinding and soaking up calm, affectionate moments.

Training and Manners: Thunder is puppy pad trained and thrives with a consistent routine. He has solid basic manners and is steadily building confidence. While he’s still learning outdoor house training and leash skills, he responds well to guidance. When home alone, Thunder is comfortable with free rein or a secure space and may briefly vocalize before settling. He sleeps soundly in his own bed and continues to progress as his routine becomes familiar.

Health and Care: Thunder is a healthy boy who is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines. Like all dogs, he will need monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. His beautiful long coat benefits from regular brushing and occasional grooming.

Other Animals: Thunder has limited experience with other animals but may do well with dogs of a similar size and energy level with proper introductions. A gradual, thoughtful approach will help set him up for success.

Children: Thunder does best with older children (8+) who understand how to interact gently and calmly.

Ideal Home: Thunder will do best in an apartment, condo or townhome with a low-key, structured environment. While he can be alone for a few hours, he enjoys having regular companionship. An ideal adopter will be patient and consistent, helping him continue to build confidence and settle into everyday life.

Overall: Thunder is a sweet, affectionate little dog with a tender spirit. He may take a moment to come out of his shell, but once he does, Thunder becomes a devoted companion who loves to stay close. In the right home, he will blossom into a deeply loyal and loving best friend proving that even the smallest rumble can bring the biggest joy.

If Thunder sounds like your perfect match? If so fill out an application at www.pprfl.org and fill out an application. If it seems like a good fit his foster family will reach out.

Adopt Molly! She’s a 13-year-old, 9-pound Chihuahua girl.

Favorite Things: True to her Chihuahua nature, Molly knows who and what she likes! Once trust is built and she makes a connection, she loves giving kisses and staying close to her special person. Any spot near them becomes her favorite place in the world. Molly recently lost her sister and best friend and might appreciate another calm, laid-back dog in the home to keep her company. We think she would do well as an only dog too, as long as she has plenty of human love. She does best in a calm environment with limited foot traffic, but she can handle being home alone for a few hours. She can take or leave toys but enjoys time outside and neighborhood walks. She loves food and is very food-motivated, which helps with training. She also enjoys relaxing on the couch with her human in the evening.

Training & Manners: Molly is housetrained when let out on a regular schedule. She has good house manners but will benefit from continued coaching and patience. She walks well on a leash, and the exercise helps her settle. She is fine on car rides and sleeps soundly in the people bed at night in her foster home.

Health & Care: Molly is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, spayed, and recently had a dental cleaning. She’ll just need her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. Regular baths and nail trims will keep this lovely gal looking and feeling her best.

Other Animals: Molly has experience with other small, laid-back dogs. She has not been tested with cats, but her foster mom suspects she would not be a good fit.

Children: This sweet senior would do best in an adult-only home as the high energy that children generally bring unsettles her. Molly can become uncomfortable when someone moves too quickly into her personal space.

Ideal Home: Molly isn’t picky and would do fine in an apartment, condo, townhouse or single home. She can be left alone in the home in a secure space for a few hours without issues.

Overall: If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet senior Chihuahua who is happy to offer gentle companionship, Molly might be the one for you. If you think she might be, visit www.pprfl.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, her foster family will reach out with more information.

***Local adoption only: Odin needs a family in the central Florida region (Orlando area) who can commit to taking him to his final follow up appointments with PPR's vetting partners. The cost of these appointments is covered in his adoption donation.***

Adopt Odin, he’s a 2-month-old, 7-pound Aussiedoodle boy whose blindness just can’t stop him from loving life! He brings his intelligence and enthusiasm, along with the strength of his other senses, to each day’s adventures. He’s looking for a calm and patient family to teach him how to navigate and enjoy all the wonderful things life has to offer.

Favorite Things: Odin loves toys of every size, shape, and sound! He also loves food and is very food-motivated which, along with his intelligence, makes training a breeze. Given his blindness, he likes to stay close to his special person and relies on them for navigation until he acclimates to his space. He enjoys exploring the great outdoors in a secure area or on a leash.

Training & Manners: Odin is doing well with house training in his foster home but will need continued reinforcement and opportunities for regular outdoor breaks. As a puppy, he’ll need someone who is at home more often than not during his early months to help him learn to be the best boy he was meant to be. He already has good basic house manners and is learning to walk on a leash. He tolerates a car ride and sleeps soundly in the people bed.

Health & Care: Odin is heartworm negative, microchipped, and current on his vaccination schedule, but will need additional vaccines in the near future. He has follow up appointments and neuter surgery scheduled with our vet partner and his adopters must commit to taking him to these appointments, as well as to post-surgery care. The cost of the procedure and appointments is covered in his adoption donation. He’ll need monthly flea and heartworm preventatives like any dog, and his beautiful Doodle coat will need regular grooming.

Other Animals: Odin has experience with other dogs of all sizes and does best with calm, laid back pups who are less likely to startle him. Odin also does well with cats.

Children: This sweet pup would do best in a home with children ages 8+.

Ideal Home: Odin is blind, so a home without stairs or a pool is a must for him, as well as a yard with a secure fence. Once he becomes familiar with the home and with special attention paid to the safety of his surroundings, Odin can be left alone in the home for a few hours without issues.

Overall: If you live in Central Florida, are looking for a smart young pup who will steal your heart and are committed to loving and training a special needs companion, Odin may be the one for you. If you think he might be, visit www.pprfl.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, his foster family will reach out with more information.

Are you kitten me? I thought you were a dog rescue! 🐱 🐱

Yes, we’re a dog rescue… but we’re also big softies. So when we were rescuing some dogs from a bad situation and there were two kittens there as well, we just couldn’t leave them behind.

Meet River and Riley, two tiny sisters who have completely stolen our hearts. At just over one pound each, these little girls are packed with personality. They also have plenty to say, especially when it’s mealtime!

The girls are being spoiled by amazing foster parents who absolutely adore them. In fact, their foster parents’ legs are covered in tiny scratches from allowing the kittens to climb all over them and use them as their personal scratching posts. That’s love!

River and Riley still have a little growing to do before they’re ready for adoption, but they’ll be looking for forever homes soon. Stay tuned for updates on these adorable sisters! 💕

Happy Tails, featuring Poodle and Pooch alum - Glimmer, now known as Carmina! 🐕

We recently received a fun “pupdate” from Marina, who adopted Carmina from us back in 2023 and has recently embarked on an exciting new adventure:

“I wanted to let you know Carmina is currently in Spain living her best life! She is the sweetest, most wonderful companion. I moved to Spain in April and of course she came with me. She has her own passport and has traveled in plane, train, bus, car, taxi and open top touristic buses. She has stayed in hotels and visited El Prado Museum, El Retiro Park in Madrid and multiple cultural locations. She is no stranger to restaurants and cafés. She brings joy and lights up faces everywhere she goes We have many more adventures planned! Meanwhile she keeps perfecting the art of caring, kissing, and making everyone happy. I wanted you to know what a great life she has, how lucky l am to have her with me and how thankful am to you for making it possible. 💙💙💙”

From rescue dog to world traveler - there’s something special about knowing that dogs from our little rescue here in Central Florida go on to live lives bigger and more beautiful than we ever could have imagined!

Adopt Albert! He’s a 5‑year‑old, 10-pound Yorkie. He can be a bit unsure of new people. Because of this, he’s looking for an adult‑only home with no other dogs or cats.

Favorite Things: Albert loves his walks—he’s practicing not barking at people and other dogs, but he’s making progress. Toys are his treasures, and he can be a bit possessive of them, though he’s learning to play fetch. He’s an energetic little guy who adores doing zoomies and cooling off afterward with his absolute favorite treat: ice chips.

Training & Manners: Albert is housebroken in his foster home and reliably does his business outside or on walks after meals. He’s food‑motivated, not picky, and is learning basic commands like sit, stay, lie down, and wait. He’s also an independent player who enjoys keeping himself entertained. He walks nicely on a leash, rides well in the car, and is working on polishing his manners. Like many young pups, he still has some “puppy nipping,” and redirection works best for him. PPR will also include up to two training sessions IN YOUR OWN HOME with a trainer.

Health and Care: Albert is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and had a recent dental cleaning. Like any dog, he will need his monthly flea and heartworm prevention. As a yorkie, he may need periodic grooming for his coat and nail trims. He also uses an ear wash weekly which costs about $10 a month.

Other Animals: Albert prefers to have his person all to himself, so a home without other dogs or cats is a must.

Children: Because he can be unpredictable with kids and doesn’t always appreciate being corrected, Albert needs an adult‑only home.

Ideal Home: Albert would thrive in a single‑family home. A fenced yard would be wonderful so he can safely run, explore, and get his zoomies out. He can stay home alone for several hours without issues, and when you return, he’s ready to play. At night, he sleeps well in his own space and waits patiently for morning.

Overall: If you’re looking for a small, spirited boy who is protective, independent, and playful, Albert might be your match. With consistent training and gentle guidance, he has all the potential to become a loyal, loving companion.

Do you think Albert could be the one for you? If so, please visit www.pprfl.org and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, his foster family will reach out with more information. His adoption donation includes TWO training sessions in your home with one of our partner trainers.

Ginger was ADOPTED!! 🏡

***Local adoption only: Ginger needs to be adopted by a family in the Central Florida region (Orlando area) who will commit to taking her to her follow-up vetting appointments for remaining vaccines and spay with PPR's vetting partner. These appointments have already been scheduled and their cost is covered in the adoption donation.***

Adopt Ginger—almost 5 months old, 21 pounds and a Goldendoodle with legs made for prancing.

Favorite Things: Ginger is a joyful little companion who loves snuggles, belly rubs and anything that involves being near her people. She’s a playful pup who enjoys romping with another friendly dog, exploring the yard and lounging by the pool on warm days. She has a silly fondness for toes and her toy collection is her pride and joy; she believes the more toys, the better.

Training and Manners: Ginger is developing lovely habits for her age. She stays on track with her housetraining when taken out regularly and responds well when guided. She uses her sweet puppy voice to communicate her needs and is learning the basics of polite behavior. Continued practice with leash walking, table manners, and staying engaged will help her grow. New environments and car rides can make her uneasy, but with gentle reassurance, she’ll continue to build confidence.

Health and Care: Ginger is a healthy girl! She will just need her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. As a poodle blend, she will also need routine brushing and regular grooming to keep her coat soft and beautiful. She will need a family in the Central Florida region (Orlando area) who can commit to taking her to her final puppy vetting appointments and spay. These have already been scheduled with PPR’s vetting partner, and their cost is covered in her adoption donation.

Other Animals: Ginger enjoys the company of other playful dogs and fits in beautifully with the doodle blends in her foster home. She’s polite with their belongings, follows their lead and plays with a sweet, submissive style. She hasn’t met cats yet, but her temperament suggests she could adapt with proper introductions.

Children: Ginger does well with older children (8+). Her soft, easygoing nature suggests she could do well with younger kids too, as long as they interact calmly and kindly with a puppy.

Ideal Home: Ginger would thrive in a home—whether a house, condo, or apartment—where someone is around often to enjoy her affectionate personality. She blossoms with companionship and would love another friendly dog to share her days with. A family who enjoys including her in their routine and helping her continue to mature into a confident young dog would be a wonderful match.

Overall: Ginger is a bright, affectionate sweetheart who is growing beautifully into herself. She’s clever, loving, and eager to be part of a family who will guide her through puppyhood with patience and joy. With her movie‑star name and her expressive charm, she’s sure to leave a lasting impression.

Can Ginger dance her way into your heart? If so, visit www.pprfl.org to submit an adoption application. If it looks like a great match, her foster family will reach out with more information.

Tigger was ADOPTED! 🏡

***Local adoption only: Tigger needs a family in the central Florida region (Orlando area) who can commit to taking him to his final follow up appointments with PPR's vetting partners. The cost of these appointments is covered in his adoption donation.***

Adopt Tigger! He’s a 3-month-old Terrier boy. At 6 pounds of pure puppy energy.

Favorite Things: Tigger loves toys - the more the better - and is always up for a game of fetch with any toy in the bin! He also enjoys exploring the outdoors and is a great fan of chasing lizards and squirrels. He’ll need supervision and a secure area, but you can count on him to help with the weeding and other gardening chores. Tigger is not a fan of loud noises and prefers to have someone nearby to guide him through new experiences.

Training & Manners: Tigger is house trained in his current home where he is let out regularly. As a puppy, he’ll need someone who is at home more often than not during his early months to help continue his training, let him out frequently, and raise him to be the best boy he was born to be. He already walks well on a leash, loves a car ride, and sleeps well in a secure space at night.

Health & Care: Tigger is heartworm negative, microchipped, and current on vaccinations but will need additional vaccines in the near future. He has follow up appointments and neuter surgery scheduled with our vet partner and his adopters must commit to taking him to these appointments, as well as to post-surgery care. The cost of the procedure and appointments is covered in his adoption donation. He’ll need monthly flea and heartworm preventatives like any dog, and regular brushing and nail trimming will help him look and feel his best.

Other Animals: Tigger has experience with other small dogs and would enjoy a fur sibling to play with. He hasn’t been tested with cats.

Children: This sweet boy would do best in a home with children ages 8 and older.

Ideal Home: Tigger would do fine in an apartment, condo, townhome or single home. He can be left alone in the home in a secure space for a few hours without issues.

Overall: If you live in Central Florida and are willing to love and train a sweet, smart young pup with a big heart, Tigger may be the one for you. If you think he might be, visit www.pprfl.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, his foster family will reach out with more information.

Shadow is an amazing pup, but he has a few strikes against him in the rescue world.

🐾 He’s mid-sized. At 33 pounds, he isn’t a big dog or a small dog. Instead, we think he’s juuust right.

🐾 He’s got black fur. Dogs with black fur often wait 3 to 4 times longer to find a home. He might look scary to some folks, but he’s a huge softie. 🖤

🐾 He’s shy. Shadow is a lover and a follower, but he’s not outgoing. He’s a bit reserved when he meets new people, though once he gets to know you, he’ll be your best friend forever.
