On Saturday, March 5, 2016, Collegiate Pathways, Inc. (CPI) held Tea & “bytes” a fundraiser benefiting “Tech Sassy Girlz” at the Orlando Science Center. Tech Sassy Girlz is an initiative of Collegiate Pathways, Inc., a local 501(c)(3) non-profit established to first generation and underrepresented middle and high school students. Tech Sassy Girlz, our signature science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program, provides girls exposure and access to STEM fields through interactive and informative STEM tours, conferences, workshops and internships.

Janai Norman, Reporter, WFTV, Channel 9 served as host of Tea & “bytes”. In an intimate setting of 70 guests, our speakers, Ms. Kathryn Shuler, Associate Superintendent, Orange County Public Schools, Ms. Naia Butler-Craig, freshman, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Tech Sassy Girlz alum spoke about the importance of STEM education, advocating for girls and women in STEM and supporting organizations like Collegiate Pathways who encourages girls to go into STEM fields.

Tea & “bytes” raised over $14,000 for Tech Sassy Girlz. All proceeds go directly towards programs and services for the girls. “I am truly humbled by the amount of support from the community,” said Laine Powell, Executive Director of Collegiate Pathways, Inc. “Today is an important day for Tech Sassy Girlz because the community showed their support and recognized the importance of helping us develop the next generation of STEM female leaders”, said Powell.
