Our sanctuary is excited to launch an ambitious project in the neighborhood: Project Christmas 2024!
Here is Tinkerbelle’s profile:
Our goal is to reach 50 monthly donors/sponsors for our resident felines by December and ensure the viability and continued work of our mission. Will you consider becoming a member for $10/month and sponsor Tinkerbelle?
Many neighbors have been very generous and supportive and continue to provide us with food gifts and sponsorships of some of our felines. Our goal, however, is to significantly increase our donor base and reach people who have not yet contributed, as well as to let the public know what the focus of our mission is.
Unfortunately, many who wish to surrender a cat find us very easily – allergies, moving, veterinary bills (believe us, we get it!), a new baby, or as is the case of many of our community cats, the need for a safe place after TNR, especially for cats with special needs – blind, deaf, old, or injured. We hate to turn anyone away. In fact, we hate it so much that we are well over our capacity, and we need the support of our community. Sadly, until we can secure regular monthly donors that we can count on to support us, we must keep our doors closed indefinitely and that breaks our heart. With our goal – which is very achievable – of reaching 50 donors by December 25th, we will be able to reassess and hopefully keep our doors open to help more community cats.
Will you please join us in supporting this worthwhile project and consider sponsoring Tinkerbelle?

For Sam’s Club members, the 60 can Friskies Pate box of canned food is also a great deal at $43/box.
TINKERBELLE
This beautiful little tuxedo lady with that perfect pink nose also came from OCAS this past summer. Her mom and siblings were placed for adoption; however, Tinkerbell suffers from a neurological condition causing her to have a hard time controlling her movements and her ability to walk is impaired. Shortly after coming to BHS she suffered a major setback, and was rushed to the ER clinic for evaluation. Truth be told, we weren’t hopeful she would pull through given her condition and her start in life. The vet diagnosed her with toxoplasmosis, a parasite that she was apparently born with that causes neurological damage to parts of her brain that control movement. Thankfully, with antibiotics and proper care, Tinkerbelle made a recovery and we’ve been helping her strengthen her limbs and muscles, allowing her much better control of her movements, especially when it comes to her ability to eat and move around independently. She can’t walk, but she “tumbles” and crawls, allowing her a good deal of independence, and a great quality of life. While she needs help on the potty sometimes, she’s a very happy and content little kitten with a good prognosis for life longevity. She loves to play with her kitten siblings, and we have learned her body language so she can easily communicate to us her wishes, such as “I need to get up on the couch to watch Hallmark Christmas movies with you, please”. We love this little angel and are so glad we pulled her from OCAS on that fateful summer day. We hope you will consider sponsoring this little lady on her continued life journey as she tumbles her way into everyone’s heart.
