Did you know that March is also National Reading Month? πŸ“–

It goes without saying that reading is critical for learning and educational achievement. However, many don't know just how important those early years are. As this statistic shows, reading proficiency levels in third grade are actually a strong predictor of high school graduation and subsequently, postsecondary achievement. πŸŽ“

So, pick up a book this month-either by yourself or with a child-and enjoy all that reading has to offer! πŸ“š

Happy Women's History Month! πŸ‘

Women's History Week was celebrated the week of March 8th starting in 1978, initiated by the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission. This movement grew across the country and in 1987, Congress declared March as National Women's History Month in perpetuity.

This month is meant to celebrate and uplift women and their contributions to society, honoring stories of resilience, progress, and possibility. πŸ’ͺ

Last Wednesday, upliftED hosted a Career Conversations Workshop at Gateway High School. πŸ’Ό

Nearly 50 students attended and were able to hear from four professionals. These speakers shared more about their fields, their day-to-day jobs, and the path that led them to where they are. The students walked away feeling informed and inspired! πŸ’‘

One of the three pillars of the Education United: Student Success HUB is career pathways. We want to ensure students have the resources to explore various careers and make the best choices for their futures.

Special thanks to Mr. Cruz and the Latinos in Action group at Gateway High School (), Jasmine and Treasure from Heart of Florida United Way (), and Carla from MIDFLORIDA Credit Union ()! πŸ‘
