Extremely proud to have Ofc Jachim apart of our team.

Officer Jachim recently transferred to the Orland Park Police Department from San Diego, bringing with him a strong record of courage and professionalism.

San Diego Police Department recently contacted the Orland Park Police Department and requested that we present Officer Jachim with an award for his time spent with the San Diego Police Department. On their behalf, Chief Rossi presented Officer Jachim the Meritorious Service Award for his actions during a dangerous encounter following a homicide investigation in San Diego.

As officers moved to arrest the armed homicide suspect, Officer Jachim positioned his patrol vehicle just feet from the suspect, placing himself in extreme danger to provide cover for his team. When the suspect emerged with a loaded shotgun, his fellow officers responded to defend themselves and others. Officer Jachim’s bravery, composure under pressure, and selfless actions were instrumental in protecting his fellow officers during this dangerous encounter. We commend him for his service and are proud to have him as part of the Orland Park Police Department.

Thank you to all past and present law enforcement officers for protecting our communities and standing the line when others cannot. We especially remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The members of MAP Police Union #159 extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and brothers and sisters in blue of Officer John Bartholomew of the Chicago Police Department, who gave his life in the line of duty on April 25, 2026.

We honor his service, his sacrifice, and his unwavering commitment to protecting others. His courage will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, Officer Bartholomew. We have the watch from here

We are saddened to announce the passing of retired OPPD Sgt. Dennis Pratl.

Dennis was truly one of a kind, a character who could light up any room and always found a way to make you laugh, even on the toughest days. More than that, he was a leader who genuinely cared about his subordinates, always looking out for his people and setting the example of what it meant to serve with integrity.

He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, humor, and loyalty that will not be forgotten. The impact he had on those around him both personally and professionally will stay with us forever.

Rest easy, Sergeant. Your watch is over, but your memory will live on in all of us.
