CU R.I.S.E. had the pleasure of visiting Brookdale Elementary School to read to scholars from Pre-K through 5th grade 📚✨

Reading aloud strengthens literacy by building vocabulary, improving comprehension, and helping students develop confidence in their own reading skills. We love pouring into young minds and inspiring a lifelong love for books! 💙 📚

Celebrating a true trailblazer in education, Marva Collins ✨📚

Ms. Collins believed in the brilliance of every child — especially those the system counted out. By founding Westside Preparatory School and refusing to accept limitations placed on Black students, she proved that excellence is expected, not exceptional.

Her legacy reminds us that education is power, discipline builds confidence, and our children deserve to be challenged, nurtured, and believed in. 🤎✊🏾

Today, we had the amazing opportunity to spend time with the OCAB Head Start program doing arts and crafts and connecting with some truly bright, beautiful young minds. 🎨✨

It was such a joy to see their creativity shine, hear their laughter, and be reminded of the importance of pouring into the next generation. Moments like these reinforce our mission and passion for supporting children as they grow, learn, and thrive.

Thank you to OCAB Head Start for welcoming us and allowing us to be a part of such a special day. We can’t wait for more opportunities to give back and continue inspiring young leaders in our community! 💛📚

Her work, including the Perry Preschool Project, helped change how Black children are supported in education. We celebrate her legacy of seeing Black children through a strengths based, growth focused lens.☀️✊🏾
