Congratulations to our winners!! Some of our winners will be performing at the Irvine Global Village Festival this Saturday, October 5, 2024. The OC Families in Action 2024 Youth Speech Contest is accepting submissions until Wednesday, September 18th at 8PM! If you want to share why your voice matters, this is your final chance!

We will have 10 winners total:
4 primary students (K-5) - $50 Award
3 middle school students (6-8) - $100 Award
3 high schools students (9-12) - $150 Award

K-5th Grade Prompt:
How do you use your voice to help others? Have you ever helped a friend feel brave? What's an example or a skill you can teach other kids about being a leader? Do you have a story about speaking up for someone who didn't feel comfortable speaking for themselves? Tell us some ways kids can use their voice to help Orange County kids and families.

6th-12th Grade Prompt:
Youth and young people are change agents and leaders. What are some ways governments, schools and/or communities can elevate the voices of young people? What are your ideas for making sure kids and young leaders can make an impact in decision-making processes? For example, kids can't vote in federal or state elections but they can still make an impact. Tell us why it's important for our public institutions to hear from K-12 students in Orange County.

The deadline to submit is 8:00PM PST on September 18, 2024. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of community leaders. Winners will be contacted the week of September 27, 2024. Must be an Orange County resident and student. Select winners may have the opportunity to perform on stage at the 23rd Annual Irvine Global Village Festival on October 5, 2024.
