🚨We have an urgent support request for the family of our community organizer Vanessa. Vanessa’s mom, Cid, was seriously injured by a dog while organizing for housing justice in Middletown. Their family is now facing huge hospital bills and a loss of income while Cid takes off work to recover.
If you know anything about Vanessa, you know that she’s a fighter. She gets that from her mom.
For years, Cid has been organizing right alongside Vanessa to transform New York: spending countless hours talking to neighbors, attending community meetings, and speaking at actions.
It’s situations like these that remind us why we’re in these fights. No one should face thousands of dollars in medical bills, or worry about how they’ll afford to cover necessities if they are unable to work.
Let’s make sure they have what they need to recover and heal so that we can keep fighting for a future where healthcare and housing are human rights and no one ever has to make a GoFundMe to cover medical costs ever again.
