Happy Friday community 💙

We know we’ve been a little quiet this week, but please know Daily Bread Project is still here, still working, and still building behind the scenes.

This week gave us time to regroup, tighten a few things up internally, and continue preparing to serve our community the right way. We had a minor issue, but it has been addressed and we’re moving forward. Sometimes when you’re doing something meaningful, unexpected challenges come with it but one thing about us, we don’t fold. We adjust, we learn, and we keep going.

Daily Bread Project was created for the people who truly need help and that mission has not changed. Not everyone will understand what we do, and not everyone has to. We’re here for the people who genuinely need support, and that’s where our focus will remain. 😁

With that being said, we’re excited to share a new idea we’ve been working on:

We’re looking into adding beverages with meals and distributions whenever possible. It may seem small, but we know those little touches matter to families.

At this time, we are not planning to do sodas we want to focus more on juices, teas, and options that can also be considerate of our sugar-free community.

We’ll be posting a poll so you all can vote on beverage options you’d actually enjoy receiving. And if you don’t see your choice listed, feel free to add your own option as well.

Please be considerate as this is something we are adding from a budget we have worked hard to create, and at this time, we do not currently receive beverage donations. We’re simply grateful to be in a position to begin adding more where we can.

Thank you all for continuing to grow with us.

We’re still here. We’re still working.

We’re still building.

Good morning, community

Yesterday was a very busy and overwhelming day for us here at Daily Bread Project, but by the grace, we still pushed through and were able to serve several families despite some unexpected challenges.

Due to circumstances outside of our control, one of our scheduled food pickups did not go as planned, which significantly affected the amount of food we expected to have available yesterday. Because of that, we were not able to complete as many custom bag orders as originally intended.

That said, we are still thankful for the food we were able to receive and grateful for everyone we were able to serve yesterday. To those who received their custom bags thank you for your patience and support. 💛

To those who submitted custom bag orders and were not reached yesterday, we sincerely apologize. Please know that this was not intentional, and some things truly were outside of our control. However, it is our responsibility to keep our community updated, and we will continue working to improve communication as we grow.

We also want to address something important:

There was an instance where one of our volunteers placed multiple custom bag applicants into a group message in an effort to quickly provide updates. While we understand the intention, that should never have happened, and it has been addressed internally. We sincerely apologize to anyone affected by that. That is not how we operate, and it will not happen again. If you were included in that message and have not already done so, you may exit the group chat.

As many of you know, Daily Bread Project is still a very new organization. We have only been operating for about 4–5 months, and in that short time, we have already been blessed to help many families and we plan to help many more. With growth comes learning, and while yesterday was a lot for us, we are not giving up on our community.

Instead, we are taking this week to pause, regroup, strengthen our internal structure, and improve volunteer training and communication systems so we can continue serving the community the right way.

Please note:
• Custom Bag Applications are currently CLOSED
• If you already submitted a custom bag order and we did not get to you, we will contact you first when we resume to confirm whether you still want your order
• Once we finish working through current orders, we will reopen applications for new submissions

Even if you do not see us posting as much this week, please know:

We are still working.

We are still planning.
We are still building.
And we are still thinking about our community.

Thank you all for your patience, grace, and continued support as we grow.

From Daily Bread Project: we are on a short break this week to reset, rebuild, and come back stronger. 💛

*PLEASE READ*

Daily Bread Project does not have one set physical location right now.

We currently operate through designated pickup locations depending on what city/area you are in.

This is exactly why our forms ask:
“What city/area are you in?”

We ask that because we coordinate pickups by area so we can keep things organized and serve more families efficiently.

As of right now, we are a growing food outreach and we operate through area-based pickup locations, not from one storefront or building.

Our usual pickup areas are:

- Opelika: old Winn-Dixie parking lot
- Auburn: Tigertown Lowe’s or Supercenter Walmart
- Valley/Lanett: Shelton’s Fireworks or Dollar General on 29

We also serve surrounding areas as well the locations listed below are simply examples of how our pickup system works.

Once your form is reviewed and scheduled, we will confirm your pickup details with you.

Thank you for understanding and for taking a moment to read the page information before messaging.

Hey guys! First, we want to say thank you so much for all of the support, orders, messages, and applications. We have definitely received them, and we truly appreciate every single one of you.

We are asking for a little extra patience right now. If you do not hear from us right away or even for a couple of days, please know it is not because we are ignoring you. We are currently working through a very high volume of requests, messages, and applications, and we are doing our best to stay organized and get to everyone in the order they were received.

While we are local, we are also receiving requests from surrounding areas like Columbus, Phenix City, LaGrange, Smiths Station, Alexander City, Waverly, and of course Opelika, Auburn, Cusseta. None of these places are necessarily far, but once you spread them out across multiple areas, it does become a time and coordination thing. Please just know we are actively working through it all.

A quick update on scheduling:
• Today and tomorrow: we are focusing on Free Food Assistance
• Custom Bag Orders: we will be caught up and continuing custom orders this Sunday, when we receive our fresh inventory and have the best chance of filling most of the items requested.

Please feel free to continue submitting your request. We will absolutely see them and get to them in the order they are received.
