PLEASE READ!

IMPORTANT DAILY BREAD PROJECT SERVICE UPDATE

Daily Bread Project has grown tremendously in a very short period of time, and we are truly grateful for every person, family, volunteer, donor, and community partner who has supported our mission.

After careful consideration, we have decided to temporarily pause our application based food assistance program while we work internally toward a more sustainable operation, stronger food partnerships, and a permanent location that will allow us to serve our community more effectively.

We will spend the remainder of this week reviewing our currently pending food assistance requests and helping as many applicants as our available resources permit. Once those applications have been processed, our food request form will be closed and unavailable until further notice. We will not be accepting new food assistance applications during this pause.

Daily Bread Project is not dissolving. We will continue working behind the scenes, developing community partnerships, and preparing for the larger vision we have for this organization. When resources and availability allow, we may also continue limited outreach to our unhoused neighbors and will post those announcements directly on our page.

Our Facebook messages and email will remain available for general questions. Our telephone line will be temporarily inactive during this transition.

Please continue following our page for outreach announcements, organizational updates, and information about when application based food assistance may resume.

This is not goodbye it is a necessary pause that will allow us to prepare for something greater and build a stronger foundation for the future.

We sincerely love and appreciate everyone who has trusted, encouraged, donated to, volunteered with, and supported Daily Bread Project. Thank you for growing with us. We hope to see you again soon. 💚

Right there by the bridge connecting both cities, keeping bellies full and showing love to our neighbors.

Special thank you to SGT Lynch for contributing to today’s outreach. As a veteran-led organization, we love seeing vets helping vets help others. 🇺🇸💚

Daily Bread Project has started physically passing out our outreach cards in the Phenix City and Columbus area so our unhoused community can stay connected with us directly.

These cards give them access to our page so they can keep up with updates, meal announcements, and see when we will be back out serving. Our goal is to reach this community more often and make sure people know where and when food will be available.

We will be in Phenix City today to feed, and we will post the time shortly.

If you are in the Lee County, Opelika, Auburn, Phenix City, or Columbus area and happen to come across someone in need, please feel free to show them this card, let them scan the QR code, or even print it out and pass it along. Many people in the unhoused community do have phones, or are around someone who does, so this is one more way to help them stay informed.

If they follow our page, they can keep up with when Daily Bread Project will be in the area serving meals.

We love serving our community, but free assistance does not mean there are no rules, procedures, or expectations. Please respect our organization, our volunteers, our time, and the other families we serve.

When you submit a Food Assistance Request and we contact you, we are actively reviewing your request. If you confirm that you still need assistance, your food is prepared and a pickup time is scheduled specifically for you.

If you agree to that time, SHOW UP.

If something happens, call or message us. We understand emergencies, car trouble, dead phones, work schedules, sick children, and life in general. What we will not accept is scheduling a pickup, not showing up, and never contacting us afterward.

Our volunteers should not be sitting at a meeting location waiting on someone who decided not to come. That food was prepared for your household and could have been provided to another family.

No-call/no-shows will be documented. Repeated no-call/no-shows may result in future assistance being denied.

🚨 COMMUNITY SHOUT-OUT! 🚨

If your child still needs school supplies, stop by Bandy Park in Opelika today!

A local young gentleman has put together 60 backpacks filled with school supplies and is giving them away to help families prepare for the new school year. ❤️📚✏️

🕞 He’ll be there until approximately 3:30 PM, while supplies last.

The Daily Bread Project will also be stopping by briefly with a few snacks for those attending.

Let’s show our support for young people making a positive impact in our community. If you know a family that could use school supplies, please share this post with them! 💚💙

Unfortunately, many people never saw our post because it wasn’t approved until the following day. By then, the weather had taken a turn, and we had to pack everything up.

Hello Community!

We have a few Daily Bread Project members currently set up at Duck Samford Stadium in the parking lot directly across from Miss Deanna’s Childcare (not on the field).

The weather has been a little bipolar today 🌦️, but if you or your family could use some FREE bakery items, come on by! We have a variety of fresh bakery items available while supplies last.

We plan to be here for no more than about two hours, weather permitting, so please come out as soon as you can.

Everything is completely FREE, and everyone is welcome! If you know someone who could use it, please share this post with them.

💚 Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our July 4th Community Cookout! It was a wonderful day filled with great food, fellowship, and community. We appreciate every volunteer, donor, and guest who helped make it a success.
