Approx 20lbs currently
Northern village mix
Approximate weight when I'm full grown, 45-65 lbs, but there's no real way to tell for sure.
Up to date with shots and Microchipped.

Hammer city paws rescue will be neutering him when he's of the proper age.

Likes:

Chewing and chasing toys

Stealing napkins and tissue (it's a bad habit, but I'm still learning)
Going to work with my foster parents. The more people around me the happier I am.

Dislikes:
Being left alone too long.
When mealtime is late
Aggressive dogs
Dogs who don't respect my boundaries.
Children who don't respect my boundaries.

Gii needs an active young family with another playful dog in the home. A detached home would be best because he can be loud at times.

Can you handle a beautiful Queen that wants all of your attention?

Hi there! My name is Dolly aka Jolene and I am a 2 year old Chi-Weenie! I am ready to gossip about the local dogs while we shop til we drop with our pup friendly pumpkin-spice lattes!

I would do best in an adult home as the only doggy or with a confident, calm easy-going dog that can teach me boundaries.

I am suspicious of new people at first but who isn't these days? Don't worry though, I warm up quickly!

A secure home is a must. I can jump over two feet and open doors are just too exciting not to explore. I am what the say "a flight risk"

I come from a very neglectful situation. I have never been to the vet before HCPR saved me and my mom! I am now fully vaccinated, had my nails cut for the first time, a much needed bath and my ears have been cleaned! My spay is booked! Also, I am now a champ with my potty pads!

In my previous life I was resource hoarding food. Now that I am in a loving foster home I am no longer showing this behavior. I am learning how to walk on a leash and will be healthier in no time. I need to loose approx 2-3lbs so a strict diet and exercise are a must.

I love to nap under blankets and am learning what toys are!

I have come a long way with my foster family and will need my new family to continue working on my confidence and teach me how to be the best doggy! I am a fun, silly little girl that can't wait to snuggle on the couch and watch a movie.

Makwa has been fostered to adopt! 🥳

His foster Mom just couldn't imagine letting him go. So, welcome to the family Makwa! He will be Lorraine's baby completely after his surgeries are completed next week.

Makwa still needs extensive dental surgery from chewing on rocks for sustenance while up north (common for dogs in that area) and his neuter that we will be completed and paid for by donations from people like you.

It takes a village...
Your donations are needed now more than ever. HCPR's mission is to help Canadian dogs who need it most, like Makwa. It takes more money than we get from our adoption fees (that we roll back into the rescue). Thousands more.

We do not receive any government funding. We are a federally registered ®️ charity, this means we can write tax receipts for donations over $100 when requested.

Double chihuahua rescue!

Meet Elvira and Dolly.
They are not yet available for adoption as they are in rough shape, mentally and physically. They have been to see our Veterinarian and were waiting for bloodwork results to see what their health looks like in detail.

Elvira is approx 9yo
Dolly is approx 2yo
Both needed extesive vet care upon arrival from years of neglect and no medical care. Elvira is severely Underweight, dehydrated. Dolly is super anxious at the moment but otherwise doing well physically, from what we can see. Bloodwork will hopefully come back with no issues.

Male Northern village mix (rescued from the Northern wildfires)
15 lbs
10 weeks old
Up to date with vaccinations
Working on house training
Working on crate training

He loves mischief, dogs, humans (over 10), food, swimming, toys, basically life in general.
He'd do best with another large and playful dog in the house. Cats, unknown. He's very playful and young.

Zuva has been with HCPR for almost 1 year!

Zuva will be 2 years old mid September. We have been working with her during her stay with us. She is 100% house broken, crate trained, and ecollar trained. She's 80lbs of goofiness. A mix of St.Bernard and Great Pyrenees. Research on the breeds before applying to adopt her is a must.

She would do best in an active home. She loves being with her people. She needs a home with large breed experience. She is great with kids over 13. Cats will be a hard no, as she has a prey drive. She is good with dogs, with proper and slow introduction. She loves the car and is ready to hit the road with her humans anytime.

She is fixed, Microchipped and up to date with shots. She's heartworm negative and on flea, tick and heartworm prevention.

Pupdate on Makwa! 📢 Please share ❤️

We've taken him for multiple xrays, ultrasounds, a few urinalysis and his 1st set of vaccinations. Makwa had an infection that was treated with antibiotics, and another form of antibiotics 10 days later. His scans and bloodwork came back looking great, thankfully.

Thanks to his amazing foster Mom, his coat is making a comeback. Softer and smoother everyday. He's loving life here in Southern Ontario. He's getting spoiled like never before.

We're not out of the woods yet. Makwa needs extensive dental surgery for some cracked and worn down teeth (likely from gnawing on rocks when hungry) his neuter, and more shots. This will hopefully bring him to 100%.
