Thunderbird Partnership Foundation

Thunderbird Partnership Foundation We are a national voice advocating for substance use/mental wellness services rooted in culture Megwetch / Thank you!

The Thunderbird Partnership Foundation exists to support the primary network in place to respond to First Nations substance use issues: the National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) and the National Youth Solvent Abuse Program (YSAP). NNADAP was one of the first programs developed in response to community needs. It evolved from the National Native Alcohol Abuse Program (a pilot proje

ct in 1974) to a Cabinet-approved program in 1982. This network of on-reserve addiction services has since evolved into 56 (NNADAP & YSAP) treatment programs (in-patient, out-patient, day, and evening programs) and more than 550 NNADAP community-based prevention programs. The network of National Youth Solvent Abuse Program (NYSAP) residential treatment centres, established in 1995, includes 10 treatment programs across Canada. Both NNADAP and YSAP treatment programs address impacts of colonization by attending to trauma and trauma related issues through culture based interventions.

Thunderbird wishes to advise that the 10th Gathering of Healing Our Spirit Worldwide will take place in Ottawa, Ontario in May 2028. After careful consideration, given the current climate, the organizing partners made the decision to move the gathering from Washington DC to Ottawa to better ensure a setting that feels grounded and aligned with the spirit of the event. Watch for more details in the coming months!
