Chapter Five tasted like sweetness.

Not sugar.
Not dessert.
The kind of sweetness that comes after surviving hard seasons.

Tonight, we sat around a table and celebrated women we love stepping into lives they fought incredibly hard for. New homes built with their own hands. Careers earned through courage and persistence. Recognition for kindness and compassion that quietly changes the lives of others every single day.

And maybe that’s what friendship really is…
Bearing witness to each other becoming.

Watching someone carry heartbreak, exhaustion, fear, self-doubt — and then one day watching them stand in the light they worked so hard to reach.

There is something deeply emotional about celebrating people before they fully see their own magic. About reminding each other:
You did it.
You kept going.
And we noticed.

Tonight reminded me that sweetness isn’t found in perfect lives. It’s found in the tiny sacred moments where women gather around tables and say:
“I’m proud of you.”
“I saw how hard that was.”
“You deserve this joy.”

In a world that moves too fast, these moments matter. The cheering. The tears. The laughter that comes from years of shared stories and surviving things we never talk about loudly enough.

Here’s to softer chapters.
Sweeter chapters.
And friendships that feel like coming home. 💛

Last night The Seeds of Change Gala at reminded me how important art is to a community.

Art creates conversation, preserves stories, sparks imagination, and brings people together in ways few other spaces can.

The AGB continues to be one of Burlington’s most important cultural spaces — accessible, inspiring, and deeply rooted in community.

The evening was beautifully curated, from the stunning exhibitions to the incredible farm-to-table dinner thoughtfully prepared by , Executive Chef Matteo Paonessa and partners.

It truly felt like a celebration of creativity, connection, and the future of arts in our city.

And to my beautiful friend, .j.mccarthy — I am so excited to watch your journey the unfold 💛

Burlington is better because of people willing to step forward, lead, and champion the arts. It was so lovely spending the evening with you.

There was a moment that I don’t think I’ll forget…

After the toast, I came back to the table… and the girls told me they had all made a pinky promise — no matter what, they’d keep showing up each month.

Chapter Four. 🤍

And I felt it.
Because for four months now, we’ve been protecting something —
a tiny spark that could have easily faded.

On nights when we’re tired, when life is full, when it would be easier to cancel…
we didn’t.

We showed up.
We made space.
We kept it going.

And that’s how the spark grows.
Not all at once.
Not loudly.

But slowly… gently… because people choose to tend to it.

To not let it burn out.
To not let it disappear.

Tonight, that pinky promise felt like all of us quietly saying —
this matters enough to keep the spark alive.

And maybe that’s what this really is.
This is girlhood. 🤍

Chapter Three.

There’s a kind of joy that only exists around a table like this.

Not loud.
Not complicated.
Just… easy.

The kind where you don’t have to explain yourself.
Where someone across the table says exactly what you were thinking.
Where you find yourself saying — I needed this — and meaning it.

There’s a quiet kind of support here.
In the listening. In the laughter. In the “me too.”
In the way everyone simply shows up.

We talked about how we found each other — how unexpected it was.

And then, just as easily, we were talking about what’s next… more dinners, more traditions… even 30 years from now.

And no one laughed.
Because it didn’t feel far away.
Because when something feels like this… you hold onto it.

We were at Rayhoon, sharing dishes rooted in Persian tradition — and I gave each of them a small bottle of saffron. It’s one of the most treasured ingredients used in so many of those dishes… not because you need a lot, but because even the smallest amount adds warmth, depth, and something you can’t quite replicate.

And that felt like us. 💛

A few hours.
The right people.
And something you carry with you long after you leave.

Have you ever tried this one? 🎳😂

Three amigos.

One bowling lane.

Zero dignity left by the end of the night.

We came for strikes…
Stayed for the chaos…
And discovered that bowling is significantly harder when you’re laughing the entire time.

Highly recommend this method of bowling:
Bring good friends, try ridiculous things, and celebrate like you won the championship… even when you definitely didn’t.

10/10 night.

I’ve always had a complicated relationship with International Women’s Day.

I believe deeply in celebrating women.
I believe in mentorship, sponsorship, and making space for each other to rise.

But more than anything, I believe in the power of women who genuinely show up for one another.

The women in these photos are the kind who cheer loudly, speak truth when it’s needed, celebrate wins, and hold space during the hard moments.

They lead with generosity, strength, humour, and heart.

That kind of friendship — that kind of community — makes a life rich.

Today I’m feeling incredibly grateful for the women who stand beside me, lift me up, and remind me how powerful it is when women support women.

Here’s to the ones who show up. Always.

I had the privilege of attending our annual International Women’s Day tradition with dear friends, in support of and their For All Minds campaign.

I’ve always been open about my feelings about .

I deeply believe in celebrating women.
I believe in mentorship.
I believe in sponsorship.
I believe in lifting one another up and opening doors that once felt closed.

Where I sometimes struggle is with the phrase “female leader.”

One of my favourite quotes says:
“In the future there will be no female leaders. There will only be leaders.”

That idea matters deeply to me — especially as a mother to a daughter. I want her to grow up owning her space fully.

To be bold.
To be confident.
To lead because she is capable, visionary, and strong — not because she fits into a space.

It’s a nuanced conversation, and I understand why this day exists.

We honour the work of those who fought for equality before us, and we continue that work today.

Hearing recent Olympic silver medallist speak was a powerful reminder of what that future can look like.

She shared that she never felt she was a ‘female hockey player’ growing up — because she felt so lifted and supported by the fans, the community, and the athletes around her.

And that’s the world I hope for.
A world where women are lifted.
Supported.
Celebrated.
Where leadership is simply leadership — and every girl grows up believing she belongs in any room she walks into, and always has a seat at the table.

As we celebrate how far we’ve come, let’s keep moving forward, together.

Happy 11th Birthday to my mini person, my bestie, my tini dancer, my Be**er Schnitzel. 💛

From the very beginning, you have filled my life with more joy than I ever thought possible. Watching you grow into the incredible human you are becoming is one of the greatest gifts of my life. You are kind, strong, funny, and full of light.

But what I love most about you is your big, caring heart.

You notice people.
You care deeply.
You make the world softer and brighter simply by being in it.

You are also the child who can drive me absolutely nuts sometimes… but somehow in the very same moment make me laugh so hard my heart could burst.

That’s part of your magic. Life with you is never boring, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I love our chats, our laughs, and the little moments that feel like the best kind of friendship. You truly are my tiny bestie, and I feel so lucky that I get to be your mom.

Watching you dance is magic. You move with so much passion and joy, and I know that whatever path you choose in life, you will follow it with that same beautiful spirit.

I cannot wait to see where life takes you, the dreams you will chase, the people you will inspire, and the places you will go. The world is so lucky to have you in it.

Forever and always, I am your biggest fan, your loudest cheerleader, and the person who loves you more than words could ever say.

Happy Birthday my girl.
Love you my little light!

Chapter Two 🦩🍸

Last night felt like joy.

Not the loud, flashy kind.

The steady, soul-filling kind.

We gathered again — no books, no assignments — only menus in hand and space made for one another. A no-book book club for women who believe the best conversations happen at the table… and once again, they did.

There is something sacred about showing up monthly. About choosing connection. About carving out time to sit, linger, listen.

The pink flamingo martini stir stick place cards were intentional. Flamingos lose their colour when they give so much of themselves to raising and caring for others.

And I look around that table and see women who give — constantly. To families. To work. To community. To everyone around them.

Last night was about stirring it back in.

Stirring back joy.
Stirring back laughter.
Stirring back the parts of ourselves that sometimes get tucked behind responsibility.

I love creating spaces. Setting tables. Watching conversations unfold. Giving is my love language.

But what I felt last night — truly — was my own cup filling up.

This is what joy looks like to me.

Women choosing to gather.

Choosing to stay.
Choosing each other.

Chapter Two reminded me that joy multiplies when it’s shared.

On to Chapter Three.

Happy birthday to my little best friend! You drive me crazy, make me laugh, and fill our days with endless fun.

We’re so alike—it’s amazing to watch you grow, even though I sometimes forget just how little you still are.

A decade of loving you feels like a lifetime, yet you’re still my little girl.

Wishing you the happiest birthday and a lifetime of staying forever young.
