💔🙏 THURSDAY SPOTLIGHT — ISABELLA 🙏💔
Today’s Thursday Spotlight was supposed to be a happy one.
On Tuesday, Isabella walked into Oasis needing clothes because she had just gotten a job! We were so excited for her.
We’ve known Isabella for a few years and have seen her through some incredibly difficult seasons. Recently, we’ve had the joy of watching her focus on her recovery, her health, and her future.
Before she left Tuesday, I asked if she would be our Thursday Spotlight.
“Absolutely!” she said.
We never imagined what would happen next.
Isabella is still experiencing homelessness and staying at Tent City, where there are no bathrooms or running water. People staying there often have to cross the freeway just to access basic necessities.
Isabella was struck by a vehicle while crossing that freeway.
Today, she is in the ICU fighting for her life. 💔
So Isabella, today you ARE our Thursday Spotlight — just not in the way any of us expected.
Behind the word “homeless” is a human being.
A daughter. A sister. A friend.
A woman who walked through our doors Tuesday proud to say, “I got a job!”
A woman working toward recovery.
A woman trying to put the pieces of her life back together.
A woman whose story is NOT over. 🙏
We understand the “not in my backyard” concerns surrounding a homeless shelter. But the truth is, our unhoused neighbors are already here.
A shelter doesn't bring homelessness here. Homelessness is already here.
A shelter provides bathrooms. Running water. A shower before work. A safe place to sleep. Dignity. Stability.
And Isabella’s story is a heartbreaking reminder that these basic things matter.
Today, instead of asking you to simply read our Thursday Spotlight, we’re asking you to pray.
Pray for Isabella.
Pray for healing.
Pray for strength.
Pray for the doctors and nurses caring for her.
And pray that this beautiful woman gets the opportunity to come back through our doors and tell us herself what comes next. ❤️
Keep fighting, Isabella.
Your Oasis family is praying for you, rooting for you, and waiting to see you again.
Your life matters.
Your story matters.
And your story is still being written. 🙏❤️

Our four-legged friends may not be able to speak our language, but they have a beautiful way of reminding us what unconditional love, loyalty, and kindness look like. 🐶🐱

Today, we celebrate the animals who bring comfort, joy, and companionship into our lives. They deserve the same love and care they give so freely to us. 💛
