One of these things is not like the other!
Surprisingly, throughout my travels, I found the some people didn’t know these were different species. Some people would get Turkey Vultures and Wild Turkeys confused.
Here is one way to tell the difference:
One says “gobble gobble” and one does not have a typical “voice box” Turkey Vultures
lack many of the
structures of a typical syrinx, which limits the complexity sounds they can produce.
Instead, their limited audible repertoire includes hisses and
grunts used to communicate.

Hope this helps!

Happy Thanksgiving. 🇨🇦

Grateful for Vultures. ♥️

🎵 THANK YOU 🎵

Thank you to my new favourite band, THE SCAVENGERS, who donated their time to sing for the vultures.

The vulture gods were working overtime to make sure the event was perfect… even cueing the train to roll on through while the band was singing Working on the Railroad.

I would like to thank Mayor Olena Hankivsky for her support of the Port Hope Turkey Vulture Festival.
I went to Olena early on with this little idea, and she believed in it. Her support helped turn that idea into a reality, and I’m so grateful she took the time to listen, encourage, and get behind the festival from the very beginning.
And what better way to kick off the very first Port Hope Turkey Vulture Festival than having Olena say a few words at Timm David Cafe, which was also featuring the wonderful Vulture Art Gallery.
Thank you, Olena, for believing in this little idea and helping it take flight.
