Division: Girls U12
When I (Coach Kim) volunteered to coach our very first U12 Girls team, my first reaction was panic. But when I panic, I do what I always do—I reach out for help.
Marissa was the first person I texted and asked to join me on the sidelines. The moment she said yes, I felt a little more confident. I still knew we needed more support, so I reached out to Matt Zellen. Matt brought Greg with him, and together this coaching staff became so much more than a group of volunteers.
Over the course of this season, we didn't just grow as coaches—we became a soccer family.
Marissa and I learned so much throughout the season. From Matt's endless dad jokes that somehow kept practices fun and motivating, to Marissa and me being the team's loudest cheerleaders on the sidelines, every coach brought something special to this group. Watching these girls grow in confidence, skill, and teamwork each week was an incredible experience.
The hard work and dedication of these volunteers directly contributed to the success of our season. Together, we finished with:
⚽ 55 Goals Scored
🧤 34 Saves
🏆 6 Wins
💜 1 Loss
🥅 Only 11 Goals Conceded
Throughout the season, we recognized our players with Player of the Game awards, celebrating their growth, effort, sportsmanship, and teamwork. For our final game, we decided to flip the script and let the girls help us recognize the coaches who had been supporting them all season long.
Each coach received a Coach of the Game badge, and the girls were all part of making it happen.
While the numbers are impressive, they don't tell the whole story. This season was about much more than wins and goals. It was about building confidence, friendships, teamwork, and a love for the game. None of that happens without players who show up ready to learn and coaches who show up ready to teach.
Thank you to our players for trusting us, working hard, and making every practice and game worth it. And thank you to Marissa, Matt, and Greg for taking a chance on this team and helping make our first U12 Girls season one to remember.
