After a lot of thought, and with very heavy hearts, we’ve decided to bring The Lavender Project to an end.
This is not a decision we made lightly. We love this project. We love what it became, and we know how desperately small, rural communities like ours need spaces where q***r people can find books, resources, and each other.
But we also have to be honest with ourselves. Right now, we aren’t able to give The Lavender Project the time, attention, and love it deserves. We would rather recognize that than let something we care so deeply about slowly become something we can’t properly care for.
What started as a little traveling library in Oneida became something so much bigger because of all of you. The people who donated books, opened their doors to us, showed up, shared our work, and believed that q***r people in our community deserved to see themselves in the stories around them.
We are incredibly grateful for every person who helped make this project what it was.
And while The Lavender Project is ending, we want what we built to keep going. Everything we have left—including our remaining funds and our collection of books—will be donated to other organizations, libraries, and projects that are continuing this work. We want the books to keep moving, the resources to keep reaching people, and the money to keep doing some good.

The Lavender Project may be closing its doors, but the work doesn’t end here.
