Para Community Accident & Recovery Center - CARC, construir alianzas sólidas con organizaciones hermanas es fundamental para estar siempre presentes en la comunidad. Esto nos permite recordarles que somos una organización sin fines de lucro 100% local, presente en todo Nebraska e Iowa, dedicada a educar, orientar y respaldar a las personas tras un accidente vial o laboral.

Nuestros amigos de The Salvation Army están ofreciendo kits de limpieza gratuitos para todos los hogares afectados. Estos kits incluyen suministros esenciales y equipo de protección personal para comenzar con las labores de recuperación.

Following the recent flooding that impacted several areas of our city, we want to remind everyone that no one has to go through this alone.

Our friends at The Salvation Army are providing free flood cleanup kits for affected households. These kits include essential cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment to help with recovery efforts.

📍 Location: 2625 Potter Street
⏰ Time: Today from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Details: Only your name and affected address will be requested; no ID or paperwork is required. (One per household, while supplies last).

🇲🇽 ESP - ¿ESTÁ TU AUTO PROTEGIDO CONTRA INUNDACIONES?
Las fuertes lluvias e inundaciones que vimos recientemente en Omaha nos dejan una lección importante: no todos los seguros de auto cubren los daños por agua.

Si te preguntas si estás cubierto, toma nota de estos puntos clave:

1.- La póliza clave se llama "Comprehensive" (o cobertura amplia, que es parte del conocido Full Coverage): Si solo tienes seguro de responsabilidad civil (liability), los daños por inundación, tormentas, granizo o la caída de un árbol no están cubiertos.

2.- El dueño del estacionamiento no paga: Si tu carro se inunda en el lote o garaje de un edificio o negocio, la administración del lugar no es responsable. Tu seguro personal de auto es el único que debe responder.

3.- Revisa tu deducible: Si los arreglos cuestan $2,000 y tu deducible es de $1,000, la aseguradora pagará la diferencia. Recuerda que bajar tu deducible te protege más ante siniestros, pero sube tus pagos mensuales.

🇺🇸 ENG - IS YOUR CAR PROTECTED AGAINST FLOODING?
The heavy rains and flooding we recently experienced in Omaha serve as an important reminder: not all auto insurance policies cover water damage.

If you are wondering whether you are protected, keep these key points in mind:

1.- The crucial policy is called "Comprehensive" (or comprehensive coverage, part of what is known as Full Coverage): If you only carry liability insurance, damages caused by floods, storms, hail, or a fallen tree are not covered.

2.- The parking lot owner is not responsible: If your car floods in a building or business parking lot or garage, management is not liable. Your own auto insurance policy is the one that must respond.

3.- Check your deductible: If repairs cost $2,000 and your deductible is $1,000, your insurance covers the remainder. Keep in mind that lowering your deductible gives you more protection during incidents, but it raises your monthly premium.

Recientemente, la Conferencia de Pequeños Negocios Latinos de Nebraska, que coordina la Universidad de Nebraska en Lincoln a través de Nebraska Extension, recibió la nominación de Ana Cortés y su negocio, Superior Contractors, por parte de la Greater Omaha Chamber, resultando ganadora de un galardón que le acabamos de entregar oficialmente.

Ana Cortés se ha abierto paso en la industria de la construcción —un sector donde las mujeres apenas representan el 11 por ciento de la fuerza laboral— demostrando que el talento y la solidez profesional no conocen barreras de género ni nacionalidad. Construyó su camino con una sólida preparación, perseverancia y la convicción de creer en sí misma, consolidando a su empresa como un proveedor de calidad. 🇺🇸 ENG - Yesterday, we hosted a very special awards presentation. Recently, the Nebraska Latino Small Business Conference, coordinated by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln through Nebraska Extension, received the nomination of Ana Cortes and her business, Superior Contractors, from the Greater Omaha Chamber, making her the winner of an award we have just officially presented to her in person.

Ana Cortés has carved out her path in the construction industry—a sector where women account for barely 11 percent of the workforce—proving that talent and professional strength know no barriers of gender or nationality. She built her journey through solid preparation, perseverance, and the conviction to believe in herself, establishing her company as a quality provider. Today, she is a clear example of the tremendous reach Latina women have in our city and the winner of the "GROWTH & EXPANSION AWARD". Congratulations!

Agradecemos profundamente a la Greater Omaha Chamber y a su programa REACH por habernos invitado a la graduación de los participantes de la 2026 REACH Advanced Construction Academy. Nuestro director ejecutivo, Bernardo Montoya, fue invitado nuevamente a presentar un tema educativo en el programa Mujeres y Valores, una iniciativa que, por más de 20 años, busca empoderar a la mujer y fortalecer la unión familiar en la comunidad hispana.

Con el apoyo de Heartland Family Service, Familias en Acción y agencias amigas, este programa genera un impacto profundo en las participantes. Esto es precisamente lo que más nos motiva a colaborar siempre con ellas, como lo hemos hecho desde que comenzamos con este proyecto de educación en caso de accidentes vehiculares y laborales en 2021. ¡Gracias por abrirnos las puertas una vez más!

🇲🇽 ESP - CELEBRANDO EN GRANDE: 4TH STREET FESTIVAL EN GRAND ISLAND
¡Estuvimos presentes en 4th Street Festival de Grand Island! Fue una oportunidad perfecta para conectar de cerca con la comunidad y promover la seguridad en las carreteras, considerando que la gran mayoría de los accidentes automovilísticos ocurren en vías rápidas y caminos estatales.

El evento estuvo estupendo: lleno de música, puestos de comida, feria, un divertido concurso de mascotas y, sobre todo, muchísima alegría por parte de todos los participantes. Una hermosa tradición que hoy se suma a la lista de eventos y recorridos de CARC en el estado. ¡Muchas felicidades a los organizadores!

We were proud to be part of the 4th Street Festival in Grand Island! It was a perfect opportunity to connect closely with the community and promote highway safety, keeping in mind that the majority of car accidents happen on roads and highways.

The festival was wonderful—full of music, food booths, a fair, a fun pet contest, and above all, incredible joy from everyone attending. This is a great tradition that now joins CARC's growing list of community events across the state. Huge congratulations to the organizers!

🇲🇽 ESP - RECORRIDO EN FREMONT: LISTOS PARA EL GRAN FESTIVAL HISPANO 🇳🇮 🇲🇽 🇬🇹 🇸🇻 🇭🇳
Hoy estuvimos en la ciudad de Fremont y, entre otras cosas, recorrimos el John C. Fremont City Park para afinar los últimos detalles y estar listos para el gran Fremont Hispanic Festival, que se celebrará mañana sábado 26 de septiembre de 12:00 PM a 9:00 PM.

Este festival se ha convertido en una tradición consolidada en la región —impulsada durante años por el Greater Fremont Development Council y respaldada hoy por MainStreet of Fremont— para celebrar con orgullo las culturas, tradiciones e independencias de nuestra comunidad latinoamericana en el condado de Dodge.

Para nosotros en CARC, este tipo de eventos nos permite convivir con las familias locales y llevar información y educación relacionada a los accidentes de auto y laborales, cumpliendo así la misión que tenemos fijada. Gracias a todos los organizadores de este evento.

Today we visited the city of Fremont and, among other things, walked through John C. Fremont City Park to finalize the last details and get ready for the great Fremont Hispanic Festival, taking place tomorrow, Saturday, September 26, from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

This festival has become a well-established tradition in the region—driven for years by the Greater Fremont Development Council and currently supported by MainStreet of Fremont—to proudly celebrate the cultures, traditions, and independence days of our Latin American community in Dodge County.

For us at CARC, this type of event allows us to connect with local families and bring hands-on education and information regarding auto and workplace accidents, thus fulfilling our core mission. Thank you to all the organizers of this event.
