Houston “The Assassin” Alexander is one of the most unique competitors in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Louis, Illinois, Houston has competed in the UFC, Primus Fighting Championship, MMA Extreme Challenge, Bellator, Shark Fights, the RFS, KSW, Adrenaline MMA and Bareknuckle Fighting Championship. A professional competitor since 2001 and a noted slugger, Alexander began his career as an underground fight phenom with an vast amount of unofficial career wins and an official starting record of 6-1-0-1, which included five strike-related finishes. In the UFC®, Alexander made his iconic debut by defeating top UFC® light heavyweight contender, Keith Jardine, in 48 seconds. After Jardine, Houston clinched another impressive first round TKO victory over Alessio Sakara.
Outside the cage, Alexander exudes all forms of hip-hop. A notable b-boy, he led and toured with hip-hop groups and coalitions in the 1980s and 1990s, including the Midwest Alliance, Beyond and Alliance All-Star B-boys & B-girls. Houston also hosted “Tuesday Night Titans,” a weekly rap battle, which led to his creation of the record label, Hustle Music. He has continued to be a champion of Omaha’s underground and independent hip hop scene through his work as a podcaster, DJ and on-air talent for the likes of Omaha’s Hot 107.7, Sunday Night Raw, Power 106.9 FM The Neighborhood Watch and currently with 89.7 The River, Culture Shock Radio, The Houston Alexander Podcast and The Elements Live. Houston is a performer at heart and has taken his talent to entertain from the cage to the screen through roles in Vengeance, Key & Peele, ESPN’s Sports Science, and starring roles in the short film Buzz and Scooty and the Omaha Live! comedy show. Further, Houston has been featured in radio shows (including the Matt Tompkins Radio Show and Todd N Tyler) and magazines (The Reader, The City Weekly, The Source, Men’s Health, XXL, and Lugz). A beloved community leader, Alexander is passionate about giving back. He currently serves as Board Chair & President of the Houston Alexander Foundation, whose mission is to provide educational programs to the youth through culture, exercise, and community. Over the past two decades, he has partnered with over 18 prominent community organizations to speak about leadership to the youth through the Culture Shock School Tour. A true believer in fitness and wellness, Houston also provides free personal training and self-defense classes to the community. Houston has received an Omaha Entertainment and Arts Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the Omaha community and beyond.
