Way to go advocates of Indiana and the The Arc of Indiana!! There's still a few states left....keep up the advocacy with the Attorney General!!

Victory for disability rights in Indiana! - We’re pleased to share that Attorney General Todd Rokita has withdrawn Indiana from Texas v. Kennedy—a lawsuit that challenged key protections under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Thank you to the organizations, families, and self-advocates who share in this victory. We are grateful to the attorney general and his staff for the careful attention they devoted to hearing our shared concerns over the past several months. Their openness to listening thoughtfully to people with disabilities, families, and the broader disability community showed a genuine commitment to understanding every perspective before making this final decision.

The Attorney General’s decision underscores the core principles of Section 504 and Olmstead v. L.C., that people with disabilities should have the opportunity to live, work, and participate fully in their communities. Maintaining a strong system of community-based services is consistent with federal law and Indiana’s decades-long transition away from institutional care.

The Arc looks forward to continuing its work with the Attorney General and other state leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to strengthen supports for people with disabilities and to uphold the principles of inclusion, independence, and community integration.

Today we gather at the Iowa State Capitol for Disability Advocacy Day.

Self-advocates, families, organizations, and allies from across the state are coming together to share their stories, meet with legislators, and speak about what it takes for people with disabilities to live full lives in their communities.

Throughout the day, participants will meet with senators, join a press conference, and connect with others across the disability community.

Our shared message is simple: With Medicaid we can Live. Work. Play. Flourish.

Last week at the Nebraska State Capitol, something powerful happened.

People came from across the state. Self-advocates. Families. Providers. Allies. People with stories that don’t always make it into policy conversations but shape everyday life.

They showed up to speak about what it means to live with dignity, to work, to be part of a community, and to build a life with the support that makes those things possible.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and stood together. Because when people come together like this, change feels possible.

The turnout, the energy, and the voices in the room were a powerful reminder of what’s possible when the disability community shows up together.
