National data from the CDC reveals that around 6% of pregnant people experience physical violence from intimate partners, leading to lapses in prenatal care and negative mental and physical health outcomes for pregnant parents and their babies.

In our next Training Center Online session, Valerie Bower from Heartland Health Center will walk us through care considerations, screening tools, and other resources for use when encountering patients experiencing domestic violence.

"I could go to classes, study, work, and have a fitness routine because of my birth control. It helped me prevent an unwanted pregnancy that my partner and I weren't mentally or financially ready for. And, after having children, I still take my birth control pills in combination with my antidepressant to help manage my mental health." —Jessica, 36

It's time for another Shelf Care Spotlight! šŸ“˜šŸ”¦

Shelf Care, our virtual book club, will meet August 13 to discuss "Nasty Work: Resist Systems, Explore Desire, and Liberate Yourself" by Ericka Hart.

Combining revelatory research and powerful personal narrative, Hart challenges much of what society teaches us about s*x and gender, with an intentional focus on historically marginalized groups across race, gender, s*xuality, and ability.

Affirming and inclusive s*x education is crucial for students to develop healthy relationships with themselves and others, but people with disabilities are often excluded.

This July, we're celebrating Disability Pride Month by continuing to deliver high-quality s*x education to Nebraskans who need it most.

The year-long ban prohibiting Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funds has officially expired.

In the aftermath, 30 out of nearly 600 clinics nationwide have closed their doors. They also report a considerable dip in screenings for STIs and preventable cancers—essential services that keep our communities safe and healthy.

Reports say another defunding provision may be on the horizon.
