Yesterday was ! Did you know that these and other incredible pollinators are responsible for pollinating approximately one-third of the food consumed in the United States?

Cucumbers, almonds, cherries, avocados, and kiwi are just a few examples of the crops honeybees help to produce.

During a trip away from the hive, a single worker bee can visit anywhere from 50 to 100 flowers, and in their six to eight week lifespan, each worker bee will fly the equivalent distance of 1.5 times the circumference of the Earth - talk about a busy bee!

🐝 🐝 Bees, honey and our native species are all important to support…here’s your chance!

Water your native plants…it’s way too hot! 🥵
Also, don’t forget to hydrate yourselves either and watch your pets!

In case you need to hear this, it’s okay to water your native plants when we have multiple 100+ days.

It can take native plants 3 or more years to be fully established.

You SHOULD be watering plants put in this year.

Skate Park Garden Workshop!

It’s FREE and participants get to take home 4 free plants!

Saturday, June 20th, 10am at 41st and Hamilton.

This week, our guest host, Stephanie Barelman, will discuss elements that make a successful pollinator garden. Then the group will plant a pollinator garden at the park!

This garden design provides continuous blooms from April to November, making sure that pollinators have access to food for the whole season. It also has a milkweed to feed monarch caterpillars.

It combines perennials, which may not bloom in their first year, with pollinator-friendly annual flowers. The zinnias and plains coreopsis will certainly bloom this summer, providing pollen and nectar, and a pop of color while the perennials establish.
