This month, we're celebrating Employer Appreciation Month and spending the next four weeks highlighting the companies and organizations that partner with us to put Omaha to work. These are the employers who show up at our hiring events, who call us first when a position opens, who understand that building a stronger workforce means building a stronger North Omaha.

50+ job seekers. 8 employers. One room in North Omaha, buzzing with real opportunity.

That was the scene last Wednesday, 9/23, at our Working Wednesday Career Fair. No lines of paperwork, no dead-end applications sitting in a black hole somewhere. Just real people sitting face to face with real hiring managers, having real conversations about real jobs.

A huge thank you to the employers who showed up ready to hire: HireQuest Direct, Caring For People Services, Courtyard by Marriott, Dignity Home Care Inc., Embassy Suites by Hilton, Veridian Credit Union, State Farm Insurance, and the Omaha Housing Authority.

For every job seeker who walked in, this was a chance to expand their network, learn about career pathways they didn't know existed, and walk out with a direct line to an employer instead of just another online application. For our employers, it was access to a pool of candidates who showed up ready, motivated, and job ready.

This is what closing the gap looks like in practice. Not a slogan, an actual Wednesday afternoon where someone's next chapter started.
