Nebraska Academy of Veterinary Medicine The Nebraska Academy of Veterinary Medicine (NAVM) is a nonprofit membership association based in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Nebraska Academy of Veterinary Medicine (NAVM) is a nonprofit membership association based in Omaha, Nebraska that provides continuing education to a diverse membership of veterinary healthcare professionals in Nebraska and the surrounding heartland. In the early 1970s, Omaha metropolitan area veterinarians recognized a need for local, high-quality, small animal continuing education (CE). Thus

, the Greater Omaha Veterinary Medical Association was created to fill that need. As the organization expanded, the name was changed to the Nebraska Academy of Veterinary medicine (NAVM). Today, the NAVM has a diverse membership of veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and office managers from Nebraska and the surrounding heartland. Continuing education (CE) events were originally held at the Regency Lodge, the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, and Nebraska Humane Society. Now, NAVM CE events are held at the Scott Conference Center on the beautiful campus of the University of Nebraska – Omaha.

🐾 Many veterinary hospitals are welcoming new graduate veterinarians, credentialed veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants to their teams, an exciting milestone for the profession.

As new professionals begin their careers, access to high-quality continuing education can play an important role in building confidence, expanding clinical knowledge, and supporting long-term growth in veterinary medicine.

We encourage practices to help new team members get connected early through organized veterinary medicine. NAVM membership provides valuable opportunities for mentorship, networking, collaboration, and RACE-approved continuing education to support professionals as they transition into practice and grow in their careers.

🐾 We are on a break from CE… but not from learning

As we move into the summer months, we take a pause from live continuing education, but growth in our profession doesn’t stop.

Whether it’s refining a skill, revisiting a challenging case, or supporting your team, the work we do continues to evolve every day.

👉 What’s one area you’re focusing on improving this summer?

🐾 NAVM wouldn’t be NAVM without you.

As we move this past CE season, we just want to say thank you.

Your participation, your conversations, your commitment to learning… it’s what makes this community strong.

🌿 Now it’s time for a little reset.

No live CE this summer.
More time for family, friends, and catching your breath.

We’ll still be here, just in a different way.
