Humans often think of connection as something that is verbal or cerebral. To connect means to be understood, and to be understood means to be seen and heard. But what about the ways we can make each other feel seen and heard without needing to explain ourselves?

Interspecies connection provides the opportunity to witness and be witnessed in our depth and entirety, beyond words and logic. This connection is deeply profound because it cannot be questioned— we cannot help but be seen by our more-than-human companions, and sometimes it’s as though they know more about us than we do ourselves. These relationships are deep, bodily, and beyond what words can describe. This is where the healing lies, especially for those who struggle to feel seen and heard in daily life.

If you feel called to this type of relationship, consider joining us for our upcoming retreat on May 31st: Being With: An Equine Mindfulness Retreat. Also, stay tuned for some exciting upcoming announcements as we prepare to launch new offerings throughout the Spring and Summer! There is a place for everyone at Meadows 💛

Spring is here. New grasses are pushing their way up, magnolia trees are blossoming, and the days are growing longer and warmer.

In the Spring, even the act of brushing out a horse’s shedding winter coat is a reminder of the nature of change. Horses don’t exert conscious effort to shed— rather, they trust in their body’s wise natural process to release what no longer serves them. Spring invites us all to trust, release, and make way for new blooms. Here’s Zuri doing just that!

Friends of Rainy Day Ranch - we are so excited to share that we have entered a new and meaningful phase for our nonprofit! After deep reflection on our mission and on the direction our work has naturally been moving, Rainy Day Ranch has officially become Meadows Center for Equine Connection.

Over time, our work has moved beyond the traditional adaptive or “therapeutic” riding framework. While honoring our roots as a traditional PATH program, our practice has grown into something different: a relationship-first, partnership-centered approach where growth emerges through mutual responsiveness and connection.

By blending principles of natural horsemanship, trauma-informed care, education in neurodivergent experiences, and a deep attunement to both horse and human nervous systems, our style of horsemanship supports meeting riders exactly where they are: emotionally, physically, and relationally. Working at the pace of both student and horse allows each lesson to adapt moment-by-moment to shifting needs, abilities, comfort levels, and intentions. This flexibility makes it possible for a wide range of students to participate meaningfully, without pressure to perform or conform to a rigid structure.

We remain committed to supporting students of all abilities, including those with physical disabilities, through horsemanship and volunteers trained in safe leading and side-walking.

As Meadows Center for Equine Connection, we are also doubling down on workshops, retreats, and small group programs that explore presence, embodiment, trust, and curiosity through interspecies relationships. These offerings allow individuals to explore in unique, spacious, and intentional ways.

We are so excited for these changes and encourage you to check out our website for more information
