Happy 10th Birthday to Johanna, the one who made us parents. We miss you every day. Johanna’s 10th birthday landing on Good Friday is a bit of a full circle in our story. Last night, we enjoyed a Passover dinner at our friend’s church. Being a Christian church, we reflected on the last supper and what Jesus told his followers before they continued on to the Garden of Gethsemane, where he was arrested. Kevin & I traveled to Jerusalem two months after Johanna’s passing. We spread her ashes in the garden, where Jesus was overwhelmed with emotion over what was to come. Gethsemane means “oil press,” where olives are pressed so hard, they are crushed. The night before we spread her ashes, we joined a Jewish family and other travelers for a Shabbat dinner. There happened to be a group of travelers from The Netherlands: 5 women, four of them named Johanna. God continues to show up in our story and remind us that he is writing it and he is good. 🍯 “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬ 🍯 On this Good Friday, we remember Johanna and we remember the sacrifice of a savior that gives us hope.

While we are missing Theodore today, three years since he joined his sister, I am thankful for God’s word, which tells us that our lives on earth are but a v***r compared to the eternity we will spend with Christ. “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a v***r that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away,” James 14:4 ❤️💛 Living for eternity and striving to be more Christ-like as I await my treasures in heaven. ❤️💛

We don’t have the words to express our gratitude. Our first event was a huge success. Thank you to our family & friends for showing up and being generous. Hours before the event started, a family friend found out that a 10 year-old in their family will be receiving genetic testing at this week. Guys, this is important stuff. A special thanks to Megan and all of her hard work (what a hustler), her staff a for donating time, our longtime friend for driving from Bellingham to reclaim her chair for the day, Devon from .beautylounge for styling, .scoops.cart for giving the kids all of the sugar (it was delicious), .goldenhourcompany for donating a balloon arch (the colors 👌🏻). for the yummy candles, .shop for shirts. Note these local businesses and show them some love ❤️💛 this is what it’s all about. Loving each other. Stay tuned for Megan to announce the final results. Let’s pray for the families who benefit from the money we raised… that their testing provides them clarity, peace, and direction on their tragic journeys.
