Wow, the community truly showed up today.

Thank you to the following: Adrian and Samantha Davila, the owners of the downtown Jimmy John’s, for generously providing sandwiches. The Thurston County Food Bank for stepping in with snacks, water, and pop. Also, Les Schwab for allowing the volunteers to park in their lot.

This is what community looks like. When people care, when they step up, and when they look out for one another, amazing things can happen. Today, we picked up over 50 bags of trash. 💙

The words that come to mind are grateful and community. A heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers, We Heart Seattle, and Universal Junk Removal for donating a dumpster and covering the dump fees. This effort is a great example of community and what happens when people show up for one another. Proof of the impact we make when we don’t just sit back and watch, but step up and do something.

We Heart Seattle is not a traditional nonprofit. It doesn't follow the typical scripts of large-scale social services, nor does it rely on top-down institutional interventions. Instead, it follows a simple but profound mantra: empowerment, not enablement.
