Imagination Library of Washington is sparking a lifelong love of reading and learning by delivering free, high-quality books each month to Washington children from birth to age five through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Our Executive Director, Brooke, had the pleasure of meeting so many incredible military families yesterday at the Liberty Housing Back-to-School Expo at Joint Base Lewis-McChord — helping enroll their little ones in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library!

From the moment a child is born until they turn five, this program mails them a free book every single month, helping build a home library and a lifelong love of reading — no matter where their family is stationed next.

Military families move often, and books are one thing that can travel with them. We're so grateful for the chance to connect with these families and get more kids signed up.

📚 Big news for Washington families!

For the first time in years, Imagination Library of Washington was left out of the state budget — pausing free monthly books for thousands of kids across our state. Today, we’re thrilled to share new funding commitments that mark a major step toward restoring access statewide. 🎉

But the work isn’t done. Here’s how you can help:

✅ Enroll a child ages 0-5 in your life
📣 Advocate for state investment in the 2027 legislative session
💛 Support long-term sustainability

What a wonderfully busy season of life this can be, whether you're celebrating your little one finishing kindergarten or college, the graduation milestone is unforgettable and cause for celebration! 🎉🎓

When you sign up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, you receive an extra special book in the month of your child's 5th birthday, signifying their graduation from the program! Every child's last book is "Look Out Kindergarten Here I Come" sending your child off into the world with a lifelong love of reading.

In case you haven't heard, 1️⃣5️⃣ minutes of reading with your little ones is all it takes to bond with them, ignite their imagination and build a lifelong love of reading. Families don't have endless time, but just 15 minutes of reading a day can change your child's life. Build it into your evening routine or find a time between shifts to pick up your favorite Imagination Library book and help make a difference in your child's development. 💕📚✨

Big news! 📚✨ Despite losing our state funding match this legislative session, we found a way forward. Thanks to a generous family foundation, we've secured the support needed to cover a significant portion of the state match program through June 2027.

But we need YOUR help!

To fully fund our 50% partner match through the year, we still need to raise $350,000 to bridge the gap — and we're counting on our incredible community to help us get there. Every gift keeps this program alive and puts books in the hands of kids across Washington State, breaking down barriers to early literacy and sparking a lifelong love of reading.💙
