So much excitement since October! Campout was cancled due to weather so we switched directions and went hiking and fishing at Bird Haven/Miller's Grove. Helped Boy Scouts with their canned food drive, took donations at the park for Bucket Brigade, had our Pinewood Derby, and participated in Scout Sunday. That is just a taste of what we have been doing! Join us in August to see the fun for yourself!

Monday evening, I had the opportunity to speak with Cub Scout Pack 211 at the Presbyterian Church here in Olney. I was honored to follow Bea Gardner, who spoke about the importance and vital role of not-for-profit organizations in a community.

Bea’s ministry is a true blessing to Olney. Along with several others, she reaches out to those in need with compassion and faith, and she is a great asset to our community.

I spoke with the Scouts about voting and city government. For me, this is one of the most fulfilling parts of public service—showing children that government, at its best, can be responsive, efficient, and rooted in service. I see moments like these as opportunities to spark an early interest in civic involvement, and to model participation that is both engaged and civil.

Thank you to Pack 211 for the invitation. It was an honor to spend the evening with you.

Today's Scouts got to learn first aid and CPR, what to do in case of emergencies, how to use a tourniquet and an EpiPen, and safety gear that is used. A special shout out to Sue Travous, Olney, Noble, and Claremont for taking the time out of their day to help our scouts.
