Thunder’s journey to the Ranch began in Louisiana, where a kindhearted woman first saw him being used as a children’s riding horse at a birthday party. It was clear he was struggling - his small size and a severe breathing issue made every ride difficult. Moved by compassion, she knew he needed help and purchased him on the spot to give him a chance at a better life.

After a veterinary exam, she learned that Thunder’s health troubles were worsened by Louisiana’s humidity. He needed a dry climate to breathe comfortably and thrive. Wanting the very best for him, she reached out to us - and thanks to the generosity of people who believe in second chances, we were able to open our gates to this sweet little horse. He works with our Mental Health programs and is loved by all. ❤❤❤

Five meals a day. That's how Lucky eats.

Because his jaw is fused, Lucky can only take in small amounts at a time. So five times a day — morning, mid-morning, noon, afternoon, evening — a member of our team walks out to his stall with a measured portion of soaked grain. Four years of this. He's a patient horse. We owe him a little patience too.

The all-volunteer Board of Directors at End of the Trail Rescue is seeking up to three new board members to join our dedicated team!

This is a unique opportunity to help guide the future of our organization while making a meaningful difference in the lives of horses in need. Located in Olathe, Colorado, we offer Zoom meeting options for board members, making it possible to serve from near or far.

Equine rescue is filled with constant challenges, opportunities, and rewards. As our organization continues to grow, we are looking for individuals who can contribute their expertise, talents, and passion to help strengthen the sustainability, growth, and outreach of our rescue.

If you have a heart for horses and a desire to make an impact, we would love to hear from you.
